Debt Collector who does not identify themselves

Scamming thieves masquerading as a debt collector called Portfolio Recovery Associates.  They have phones cloned in dozens of area codes and hundreds of phone numbers that they use to harass and disturb people who they have no business contacting.  We'll have peace when the last of these lying crooks goes to jail.

I doubt that they are "masquerading", and I know for a fact that Portfolio bought out a whole defunct telephone company so that they could use the numbers.

Yet another call from those vultures at Portfolio Recovery. According to them, I owe this debt that was charged off, but they are unable to tell me anything about the account. They are in Virginia, but use bogus numbers all over the country.

Call on cellphone, no message.  Several other Portfolio calls from 240-803-4xxx numbers.

Trying to collect on 14 year old paid off debt that was paid to a different collections company. Portfolio Recovery.

That debt was from 10 years ago  we have a 6 year limitation in our state. I  will just get a new number.

SOL does not prevent them from attempting to collect a debt.  Once you change your number you will probably end up with someone elses problem and may end up getting many more calls.  Much easier to make them follow the letter of the law.

Hard to stop their calling. Block one number they call using another number.  One person I talk to said if I paid by credit card right now an amount he must if made up .  Said I owed 1200.00 but could settle for 300. 00 it would cancel debt.  Trying to get my credit card number …..NO Way

They are asking me for my id.me verification code to transfer funds to me.
