Called asking for Megan Kawaski. Even after I said this isn't her number, the guy asked me if it was a wrong number.

We only answered a call from this number because it showed it was coming from Michigan.  Worried it might be the authorities regarding my fiance's ex-wife and daughter due to a family tragedy that recently happened.  claims to be a debt collector.  no debt owed.

Unknown caller.  Keeps calling 5 times a day.  Answered it once and they told me I owe an old bill.  I said sorry I don't owe them any money send back the bill.  Then they got rude!  They keep calling.  I just don't answer any calls I don't know anymore.

Portfolio Recovery again @ 8:38 am eastern time. I didn’t answer & no message was left. I never answer calls from them. Funny how you don’t get calls from any one of their many numbers for awhile, then all of a sudden they start up again. They’re nothing but a scam.

Asked for a person with a name similar to mine.  I asked what she wanted.  The woman wouldn't tell me.  I asked if she was looking for money/donation.  No response so she said she will call back later.

They've been calling my dedicated fax line for months. Odd since my dedicated fax line is registered to a business which I never started up. The fax line has never been used, for anything. I couldn't answer, even if I wanted too. My fax line doesn't have a handset. This doesn't bother me as my fax line does not ring. I only know they've called when I check my carrier's call list online. They're the only number that ever calls that line. For the record I have no debt.

They're at it again.  This is one of the companies that buy up old debts, up to 15 years old, for pennies on the dollar.  Example: $1100. debt for $80. and then harass you to see if you will pay.  First thing you do not do is call them back.  Second, never admit you may have once had an unpaid debt.  Three, NEVER give any personal information to them over the phone.  Four, check with your own states statue of limitations on when debts are written off or no longer payable.  Most are three and four years but a couple do go up to 11 years.  If you have an old debt that has been written off, you will receive a tax letter from the original loan company that will state the debt has been written off their records.  You must claim this amount on your taxes as earned income but then the debt is no longer collectable.  These Debt Collection companies buy debts that have not been written off.
