Just got a call at 7am saying that there are infected files in my computer and I should get on my computer and he would help me. They are obviously going through the phone book because he knew my name. I hung up, sure hope no one falls for this scam.

I got the same call today from 'Jessie' at 'SBT research company; about a smoking survey. I said I wanted off the list and she said she'd call me back. I told her not to call me back and she started repeating 'call you back, call you back; over and over. She must have said it 10 times!! I asked again what her name was and this time she said it was 'Chelsea' and said 'What's wrong with your hearing, I already told you my name.' I asked for her Employee ID number, which she said was 288 and then she said she'd call me back tomorrow and hung up.

Any suggestions, people? I have 2 kids under 3 years old and the call was at 10pm. If they do this again I might lose it!! And by the way, I'm on the 'no call list' but it's not doing much good!

I an getting calls from a Tim Butcher.  So far it is a romance scam and he hasn't asked for any money but my computer, particularly Facebook and Google are acting up,  He said "Maybe someone is trying to hack into you"  He keeps telling me that he loves me and would never hurt me etc.  I asked him when he would meet face to face and he said in a couple of weeks.  I asked him where we would be living and he said he would know when he looked into my eyes.  This man is good.  I don't recognize the accent as South Eastern Asian but he is very smooth and has quick answers.  I am posiyive it is a scam but surprised he hasn't asked me for any money or my address.

Had a call from 250-220-1011     to my work iPhone  when I was at home at 7.53am PST.  I anwered - an east indian accent lady  spoke,  she seemed to know I was in the computer business and started talking about a course and would I be interested?   at this point i asked which company and she said  ICG  or ICI or something,   I smelled a rat, people don't cold call me to offer computer courses,  I said no thanks and hung up.  I then looked up the number and find it is on everyone's [***] list as a number used by spammers. Strangely it appears to be in Victoria BC, which is where I live too.
Next time she will get my usual greeting to unsolicited spamming people.  When I get called about once every two weeks by an automated message saying I have won a cruise in florida,  I hit the button to connect to an operator, and when I get through to a human I scream at the top of my voice "TAKE ME OF YOUR F&(&*^&*^^^G  LIIISTTTT !!!"  then slam the phone down before they can say anything.   Then I take a deep breath and continue with my day, nice to unload.  I am on both the canadian and US do not call lists, these morons are not bothering to check against those , their auto-diallers just plug on through sequential numbers..
And by the way folks -  if you get any of the calls asking you to take a survey -  hang up.  the surveys are bogus, what they really want is the questions at the end where they say - "are you in this salary range" and for verification purposes what is your postal code.   Then they get their commission for updating marketing information statistics for salary/sex/geographic area, and other preferences,if they find out your address with the postal code, you will then be on the target of many junk mail lists.   Your opinion on their bogus survery is a waste of time.   If you are not busy,   go throught all their survey questions with them,  but refuse to identify your age,  your salary range or your postal code.

Got a call from this number which went to voice mail (after all it is labour day weekend!!). They immediately called back (I mean in seconds) on a number that my phone records as 000-000-0000. Not likely a criminal scam, eh?

This number is used to reroute long distance phone calls. My brother in NZ called me in BC and this is the number that showed up. If you call back, it "disconnected, no longer in use" !!!

Ive been getting calls from the same number...when I pick up there is no one there. I call back to get a disconnected number. I am also in BC.

They called 3 ti$mes yesterday and again today. SBT.  No intro just started asking questions. Aaaargh!

I received a call from this number and they claim to be a collection agency.

We recieved a call last night from this number at 10 pm, A women with a thick indian accent saying she was from "windows" and our computer was sending them message saying it was infected with a virus and we needed to do imediate action to correct it. And of course she was prepapred to give us the routine of keys to press to make the fix. We smelt scam from the start. Windows is an application, not a company, plus what company calls you at 10 pm telling you this. I would recommend not doing as they ask, and if you are afraid, take your pc in for inspection by some one you trust, or at least can see in person. Nothing about this call last night was making us feel secure.

Got a couple of calls at 730 in the morning saying I was having problems with my windows program.  I informed him that that's interesting because I have a Mac.  He proceeding in calling me a "Liar". I told him that I'm registered as a no call line - again he called me a "Liar".  That's when I let him know precisely what I thought of him and it turned into a swearing match.  Called again today - just went straight into where we left off.  This guy is really offensive!

Unimaginative criminal scam...I didn't even pick up as I recognize the number as likely being spoofed and from south Asian criminals.

i prefer to taunt them myself.....
"Windows?! What kind of business are you running anyway?? I've been calling and calling to get someone to fix my windows."
(By now, they think they have a live one...)

" a big seagull came and sat on the roof and shat. The wind blew it all over my window. It needs to be cleaned. When can you get here?"

(This is normally met by absolute stunned silence from the criminal, followed by something like...."uhhh,not your windows. I mean your windows."
And then I get to berate them about not making sense...etc. LOL

Got two calls today. One I didn't answer and the other I did and no one was there and they hung up. Very annoying. Can we block a number like this?

I received a call today from this number from Paco saying it was an environmental survey
Asked a few questions as to whether I had any pets, allergies, how long had I lived here etc., confirmed my phone number in case I win a valuable prize, told me to have a nice day and God bless.

Just got a call from them.

Found their website. I suggest that everyone report them - both to the Canadian and American Do Not Call Lists.

Received a call from this number today at 2:45pm Pacific Time. I did not answer, since it is an unknown number to me. It left a voicemail message that said, "Inform you that your debit card has been restricted from online transactions to make your debit card shopping convenient and secure. Please call our security department or simply press one now and you will be transferred to our 24/7 card activation service."
