    These people are horrible. They have been calling trying to get a hold of my father saying he owes money. This is a bunch of [***]. His credit score is high and there is not even one outstanding on it. First off you cant even identify yourself properly and how did you even got my number. Secondly, you didn't send a single letter regarding this matter. Are you serious? who am I going to send money too when I don't even know what your after.I crossed check your number and the fax line your CSR gave me and it doesn't match one bit. Now you want me to send you a letter with all his information stating his personal information. you are joking me. You actually messed with the wrong person. I am going to file a police report tomorrow about this matter. Your a bunch of frauds and scammers. I am a certified collection specialist for a big corporate company and the steps you guys take are not even close to what I have. If I was put down as a reference then wouldn't you have at least my FIRST name?

    I was getting calls from both - this number as well as 1800 555 7070. I would answer and all I would hear was music. I initially got a call from this number and told them to get [***]. I recently was approved for a 500'000 mortgage and was told my credit rating was impeccable................... So now, whenever they harass me, I take the time to harass them over and over and over. I swear at them and ask them how do they enjoy being harassed. I have all day to harass them as they have provoked me and now I have them on my mind............ And , believe it or not, I got a call later I  the afternoon stating they had the wrong guy and would not be calling again.

    If this is them, I'm confused as they called earlier from a number that said their actual business name on my phone.  I paid my bill today already (while on the phone with them) so I don't see while they would call again.
    That being said, up until now I was fine with their service and found out I owed for a parking ticket that I had forgotten.  The woman I spoke to was respectful, answered all my questions, walked me through my options and stayed on the line until I was finished.

    A person from this company called me twice while I was in a class, repeatedly harassing me... going as far as swearing at me. I dont know HOW they got my number considering I just moved to Alberta and got a new phone number. Is this company for real? The way they speak to people is just unprofessional and does not seem legitimate whatsoever. Why would I say "okay, let me just hand you over money because you seem legitimate."

    I think I can answer a couple of questions that I see commonly asked in this thread...

    1st...whenever you open an account,apply for credit or give your current info to your utility company...it is entered into your credit file. So that is how this collection company is able to get your home number,your cell # & even your new,Unlisted number!  

    2nd...collection agencies can pull up info on someone either throuigh their name,date of birth,SSN#(or SIN #) OR phone #. If you get a call from a collection company & you tell them that youi are not the person they are looking for & they ask for your address,chances are they are trying to verify what you are saying.

    3rd....I also started to receive harassing collection calls from collectiion agencies. At first, I thought it was a case of them being given the wrong numer,but when the calls started to come in from different agencies I called my phone provider & discovered that I had been given a 'recycled'  # that belonged to the very person everyone had been calling for until 1 year before it got passed to me. I than had them give me a NEW UNrecycled UNlisted # free of charge. If that wasn't bad enough, 6 months later when someone from my mom's new nursing home tried to call me with an urgent matter,they said that they kept getting my voicemail,but I did not have any calls from them & when I called my 'old' #...It had already been given to someone else!

    Here are a few tips that hopefully help out a bit (these tips are a result of knowledge I gained from when I did credit checks as I processed applications for rental properties & personal experiences)


    ***If your # is fairly new, call your provider to find out how long the number has been inactive for. If it hasn't been inactive for at least a few years, request they give you a NEW number & if they can't, make sure it has at least been inactive for a few years. Also let the collection agency know that. For the most part,once they realize you have been given the # of the person they are looking for...the calls will stop. FYI...this is how they also find out where you bank & work. Most people don"t realize that they are inadvertantly providing this info themselves.

    ***ANY debt UNDER $100 does not get put on your credit report(at least that is how it was when I processed applications & ran a credit check) Let the collector know that you know this & that should stop the calls.

    ***IF all else fails, get the name of the collecotr harassing you...threaten to call their house repeatedly and see how they like it. You don't have to say or do anything that can get you in trouble,but you can just call them at all sorts of fun hours to discuss your 'concerns' with them.

    *** Don't forget...they have a supervisor/manager they answer to. If you can't get through to them,go above them.

    ***Get yourself a whistle & everytime they call give one nice long big blow in their ear (if you have caller ID you can start as you answer the phone,but if not, than once they identify themselves...blow away!) I am sure the calls won't last very long knowing they will have that to look forward to.

    As I know what it is like to be on BOTH sides of this issue,there is usually a way to get things resolved fairly quickly & amicably,but if you can't get the issue resolved, I hope that I have been able to help empower you so that you are able to get things resolved regardless. Best of luck!

    I also receive calls from ARO both the the 250-762-7070, 866-287-5321 and a blocked number.  I told them if they bought an old debt they could go blow. the dick tried to say they dont do that B>>> S>>>. add an app to ypur phone and black list it or do the same with your telco. or just speak in a foreign language very loudly they will eventually get the message to get lost.

    your # is released to any collection agency from equifax or transunion! And the client of the accounts that people work give updated info that you give.. for ex. if its a parking ticket, icbc and insurance agency will give your info to them! They also do common searchs on google and 411..
