Called and left no message.  Caller id said "Mobile, AL."

Same here. when I answered the phone they hung up

Received a call from this number,  Upon answering they hung up.

It was the from "Alabama State Troopers".  I am sure they wanted a donation, but I just asked to be taken off their list.  Caller ID just says, Moible, AL.  I have heard this may be ligit, but the Troopers only receive a small portion of the money.  I never give anyone a credit card over the phone, so I hope they do not sell my number to anyone else

This is the 5th YEAR in a row I've been harassed by these thieves. They very carefully state they are "representing" or are "calling on behalf of" the Alabama Troopers.....LIARS!  I used to answer these calls when I was still dumb enough to believe I could ask to be taken off their call list and they would remove my number.  I finally answered and just kept repeating "remove my number from your call list" over and over. The caller finally got irritated and said "that will never happen."
I no longer answer ANY call I don't recognize or the ID is "unavailable" and turn off the ringer weekends and evenings. If it is important they can leave a message.
I have to have a land line for work but when I finally retire one of the first things I will do is have it disconnected.

Called me 8:22pm saying he was with the Alabama State Troopers Association & was calling about Teddy Bears for abused Children & also saying some monies was used for Bullet Proof Vest & also to help with Life Insurance for State Troopers, As soon as he said that I questioned him about what he said & I asked him to repeat that & he did & as soon as he did there was someone else on the line telling him something I did not quite catch & the line just went dead. After it went dead I looked at caller ID & it said Mobile Al. & at the same time of 8:22 there was another ID with same number that said Out Of Area I am pretty sure that all the State Troopers headquarters is in Montgomery Al where the Capital is. I know this has got to be scammers. I am refusing to give a dime to anyone over the telephone.

Caller ID displays:  Unknown Name.  Did Not Leave a message.  Based on the postings below, its obviously a telemarketing scam.  
...Really, if you're representing something legitimate or worthwhile; wouldn't you be proud enough to not block the Caller ID detail payload during the call?
