Received a call at 9 in Am stating that there were several complaints against me in some county in Texas.  I was given a phone number to call a case number to quote when I called back.  I know this is some kind of scam.  A neighbor received a similar call a few days ago.  He contacted his attorney who told him it was a scam.  When you call this number you get no answer but some kind of noise on the line.  Don't fall for this scam. They are phishing.

SCAM!!! The call came up as 'Citifinancial' and 'Beth' from 'Citibank' (who I've never banked with nor used credit through) wanted to verify if I received the legal documents mailed to me. I asked her to verify my address that she sent the documents - she avoided the question and pushed to say I was being sued and need to take this seriously. I asked for the Citibank toll free number I could call her back on to verify she's really with the company. The line went dead. They then called me from a different number that also came up as 'Citifinancial'. I blocked them both.

I am pretty sure it’s a scam. Person calls said there was a civil complaint, was given a reference number and tel number 866-989-2980. Can’t complete call “called failed”

Same number same script as provided above.  Just a [***] call.  If Texas law wants find you they will serve proper notice.  Not by a call from 3rd party’s.
