This number called and asked for my adult daughter. When my mother said she wasn't hear but they could talk to me, they flipped and said "Oh yes, that's actually who we wanted to talk to. Daughter was a secondary name on the list". I get on the phone and the person identifies themselves as a Deputy with our Sheriff's Department. But caller ID listed them as Frederick, MD and we're in Southern MD. So Spidey-sense was tingling. I was told that there were outstanding bench warrants on me (after they initially asked for my daughter) for a no-show for jury duty and that I needed to either let the deputy pick me up or, because so many people had missed this particular jury duty call, that I could go to the courthouse and use the ticket payment machine to clear my fine as long as he stayed on the phone with me all the way to the courthouse. And that my fine would be refunded to me, they just needed me to make payment to clear the record. Very too weird. Put him on hold and called sheriff's office directly. They had no record of an officer by this guy's name - Brian Wells. I went back and told him I was handling directly with the sheriff and hung up. I did mention to the sheriff that they may want to check that ticket payment machine for a card skimmer.

Just spoke again with our sheriff office. There is no ticket payment machine at our courthouse. So who knows how the scam was going to work once I arrived to "pay my fine" and there wasn't anywhere to pay it.
