I didn't get a call from this number but someone just replied to an ad I have on Craig's List giving this number as theirs. Found this thread in a search for info on this number before replying to someone who is not local, and therefore not likely to be a serious buyer.

After posting the above info, found out that this is DEFINITELY a scammer's phone number.  Look up (301) 741-4870 here and you'll see page after page of emails trying to pull the same scam on Craig's List sellers.

Same here.  I was stupid enough to send him personal info.

No call but just got an e-mail with this number asking me to call regarding an item I am selling on craigslist and to leave my name and e-mail address. I saw that it is a Maryland number (I live quite far away from the state of Maryland) and did a search on it and found these posts. I won't answer the person. I am curious what kind of scam it is? How can a person make money on inquiring about an item for sale that is too far away to go to? There is a name attached to the e-mail address of the e-mail I received. It is Raquel Carrington. The e-mail address that goes with this name is  ddclippers2299@gmail.com

The scammer will send you a check (which will turn out to be fraudulent).  It will be for $1000 or so more than you were asking for your item.  When you get it he will say there was a mistake and ask you to money gram or western union the balance to him.  Your money is then gone helping to fund terrorism or Nigerian hookers.  The address and name you wire the money to is just a spot they ping from.  The money is actually collected in a remote location.

Got the same email (identical wording) on an item I have posted on Craigs List.  Thought it was a scam and found this site.  Deleted the email.

I got the same e-mail today - word-for-word.  Second scam regarding an item I have for sale on Craigslist.

What is this person trying to accomplish??

I received an email request regarding my washer dryer on Craigslist with this phone (301) 741-4871.  First I replied to the email thought it was a legit and then after a few days, they replied with asking my name, address and phone number to pay a cashier check plus $50 more without even looking at the item, that raised the red flag.  I'm glad that I google the number and found this site,  the sender is henrywilliams007@aol.com.

301-741-4871 if you get this in your e-mail. Do not respond to it. He is a scammer I repeat scammer. I just received the same e-mail as all the other post on here. Watch out for others as well.

I got the same speech disabled pitch.... unbelievable, it sounded suspicious from the beginning ha. hope he gets caught.

This person alsois responding to my add I Craigslist and wants to give me acertified check.
