I get calls all the time, but don't answer because I don't know the number.  They never leave a message and call several times a day.

I am getting so tired of this number appearing on my caller ID. They call morning, noon, and night and have been for the several days now. ID only shows up as Clear Spring, MD. I never answer these calls but give me a break. Soooo annoying...and yes, I am on the DNC list/register (that's Do Not Call, not Democratic National Committee).

Consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Report your callers here, not just to the DNC alone:

For text messages: forwarding any text message spam you get to the short code  “7726,” which spells “spam” on most phones, to alert your network operator to the abuse. ATT won't accept 7726 But they will accept BLOCK and return a message that the web site is blocked. forward the texts to 7726 or BLOCK, depending on your phone carrier.

Just got a call from this number. CID said Clear Spring MD number. Woman on the other end was foreign and said she was with Potomac Edison and they would be in my area doing home energy checks. Told her I wasn't interested and hung up.

Same thing as everyone else. Woman calls and wants to talk to husband or man of the house. She has a foreign accent from Clear Spring MD. Wife answered but did not want to talk to anyone but husband. Have also had several calls before and when I answered she said she was with Potomac Edison during an energy survey in my neighborhood. Total scam artist.

Like everyone else I got repeated calls from 301-842-4754 in Clear Spring and ignored them for a couple months.  On Tuesday 8/18/2015 I decided to answer it and see what was going on.  It was in fact a woman with a heavy foreign accent but I could understand her.  She said she represented a Contractor for Potomac Edison's Home Energy Inspection program.  They would come to your home and inspect for free.  I told her yes to set it up for Wed afternoon.  She did for 5:00 PM.  I figured if there was a problem I could simply close the door when they came.  Long story short, Potomac Edison subcontracted to Honey to provide the inspection program.  Honeywell subcontracted to other subcontractors to do the inspections and work.  One of those is Atlas Energy Solutions out of Frederick, MD  Honeywell subcontracted an overseas customer service to make the calls for appointments and that company registered the number in Clear Spring.  The man who showed up was very professional and knew his service.  Hee did a walk through of our home and gave me 17 differnt size CFL and LED lights to replace specific lights in our home.  He even installed about half of them.  The will send a report of what he found and what he did.  There are other very attractive programs that are available as well.  This inspection was freee as well as the almost $150 worth of bulbs and it worked out to an energy savings of about $10 to $12 savings per month.  In and out in just under an hour.  I also told him he was probably losing a lot of customers because of the poor appointment service.  He was going to look into that.  You can check them out at www.atlasenergysolutions.com.

Got a phone call from this number.  When I picked up it was a telemarketer telling us about a free Potomac Edison Energy inspection in my area.  I was skeptical about the appointment and started to do some research on-line.  Looks like the service is a Quick Home Energy Check Up and the website for the Potomac Edison Service is http://energysavemd-home.com/quick-home-energy-checkup/. The service is not provided by Potomac Edison, but they maintain a list of approved contractors at http://energysavemd-home.com/quick-home-energy-checkup/home-energy-expert/ . If they call back I might sign up for it.

Yeah I had one once.  They are free because apparently the costs of it are recouped from a surcharge I pay every month on my Electric bill.  Empower Maryland surcharge?

These people are still calling from Clear Spring MD. Foreign sounding woman asked for me by name and explained she was a licensed contractor at which point I hung up. Thanks to the other posters who explained this. Sounds legit but we have Pepco and not Potomac Edison.
We had Pepco do a similar audit, complete with free bulbs, a water saving shower head, and a power strip.
These are worthy efforts but using phony numbers to call from is suspicious. I blocked this number.
