- Karen RussellAt 2 pm CST my home phone rang. My phone showed "Name Unavailable from 212-000-3459". Assuming it would be a telemarketer I answered on guard. "Andrew" with a thick accent that sounded east Indian quickly rattled off some company name I'd never heard of and began to ask detailed info about my relatively new computer. I was confused and chose not to answer his questions-- instead asking, "Are you trying to sell me something?" He said, "No, we are calling today because there has been some malicious virus in Windows operating systems and we want to help you." I knew this was a scam: since when does Microsoft have the manpower, etc. to do THIS!? I asked his phone number so that I could call back-- if this was legit-- having to do with my recent purchase, a real employee would receive my call and assist me. He gave me the "30 22 61 54 02" number in the odd format and emphasized that his name is Andrew, I needed to ask for Andrew. I asked why I wasn't given a toll-free number. He stated that this was a local number. We hung up. I did a reverse lookup on the internet-- aware that this was either a cell phone number that I would NOT be able to lookup for free OR a long-distance number-- I knew it wasn't local. It came back as Philadelphia-- I am central U.S.

- Bob BWe got a call from "Mark" saying he was from some computer company, and that there was a computer virus going around. He kept trying to get my wife to allow him remote access to her computer so that he could "fix" the problem. She told him that she would have me call him back, and he hung up without another word.
We have tried to call this number, but it rings busy all the time. Too bad there are no legal remedies for this kind of nonsense. - ford3rdI just received this same call, from Cadic Edwards at 302-261-5402. Same spill...virus...let us help you. I told him I would have to call him back I was busy. I asked for his number and he gave me the number I mentioned.

- REF Vancouver IslandUnwanted call from 1-302-261-5402, 10:15 am, Nov 26, 2013, woman's voice, said her name was Sunny, calling from E Support Life, told me my computer was running too slow and would crash soon, she wanted to tell me about a programme that would stop the damage. I told her to send me the information in the regular mail service so I could ask my technician about this, and then I'd get back to her. I also said it sounded like a scam to me and she said No, it was a reputable company.

- It Sase CretAnswered call on 3rd ring, said "Hello" 4 times, finally after 5 second pause woman with very thick far East accent asked for me by my surname (?). Told her she had the right person, I didn't get her name but she was calling from "In Support Life" ? and was calling to warn me that I would be receiving a pop-up message on my computer advising that a company would try to download an update to one of my programs, I should not accept the download as it will infect my computer with a virus. I stopped her in mid-sentence and asked the name of her company again, she repeated "garbled Support Life" My first reaction was to tell her to fornicate with a wire brush but thought better of it just in case she was with a legitimate company. I asked her if she was associated with Norton or McAfee, she quickly replied "No!" and explained they were calling all computer owners worldwide who used Microsoft Windows OS. She then got quite rude and bossy and demanded that I switch on my computer and she would give me instructions to safeguard my computer, realizing the folly of the situation I simply told her "this call is over" and hung up. Looking back what I should have said was "I don't own a computer you dishonest unscrupulous cow!" and then hung up.

- Turn the TablesGot the same call knowing it was a scam. I led him on and listened to his instructions as I faked my way through the computer, wasn't even on. He would instruct me to hit certain keys and asked what popped up on my screen which I would tell him it was blank. I messed with him for over 5 minutes before deciding I needed to get things done around the house. Satisfaction was knowing I kept him from possibly getting access into someone's system as long as he was on the phone with me. If I have the time I've challenged myself to see how long I can keep these scammers on the phone before they disconnect, not giving them anything useful in the process.

- BobCall at 10:07 am from this number, called ID'd himself as Dave Williams (with a heavy east Asian accent - yeah, right). He was calling to alert me to an important security upgrade needed for my Windows computer. I asked how he got the number, but he just kept reading script, and not very well either. I asked again and said there was not a Windows computer here, and he hung up.
Obviously a scam for remote access financial data mining form a PC or credit card info. - EchosendJust got such a call, no message left, and quickly found this page to check them out.
They were hardly likely to be able to help me with any Microsoft or PC problem as I am a MAC! :-)- Caller: Unknown Name
