Received a call today 7/21/21 from this phone number 303-353-1457. Which is within my area code. Scammer tries to trick you into thinking they are calling locally . . which they are not.
The voice message was something about the IRS looking to settle a "tax lien on property taxes I supposedly owe.
Which I DO NOT. There is no tax lien on my property taxes pending. There is NO SETTLEMENT TO SETTLE!!!
The phone # they tell me call is 323-538-6395 to SETTLE such debt. SO . . red flags here.
1) The IRS or State Property Tax offices DO NOT call you to discuss such issues over the phone.
2) You would receive a bill or legitimate letter from your LOCAL State Property Tax office notifying you of such lien.
3) There is no long distance number involved to call your LOCAL State Property Tax office!
SO . . heads up folks. Be aware of these scammers!
