Do consider getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or so.If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

Man with an Indian accent said we were being sued by the IRS...said we MUST call back or have our attorney do so.
A second number detected by Caller ID, 1-2009 calls daily, too.
Don't know if they're related, but they're pains in the a$$es.- Caller: Homestead Fl

- Carly| 1 replyMan with thick Indian accent. Claiming he has received a legal petition for tax fraud & evasion. It was URGENT I call him back or have my attorney call him. If I didn't call, he was sorry and "wished me the best of luck" What a scam.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Gene replies to Nathan| 1 replyDisgusting, filthy, riders of flea infested camels, with a cell phone to their ear ,trying to rip off the decent people of civilized nations
- KFMI received a voice mail message from this number. (I never answer calls unless I recognize the number.) A guy with a foreign accent claimed I was under investigation for tax fraud and evasion (not true -- I pay my taxes) and that I or my attorney should call him back immediately. He also wished me "the best of luck" if I didn't call him back. This is obviously another version of the IRS scam. They target people they think will be most susceptible to threats like this -- usually the elderly or recent immigrants. Never return calls like this. Even if you do owe taxes, the IRS will never cold-call you at home and ask for immediate cash. They will contact you by mail and will work with you on a payment schedule. Report scam calls like this to the FTC and get a blocking device for your phone.

- Wade replies to GeneI couldn't agree more
- JimI think we should all start calling them back. 305-230-4727
that'll show them. - RainmanHave some fun with these [***]. I gave them a bogus credit card number and told them I had to use my code name on the card, Johnny Cash. Another time I told them I didn't deal with credit cards as I was off the grid and would bring them cash immediately if they gave me their physical address. Just turn it around on them. They don't know what to do with it.
- ac8125| 1 replyAn automated call with a strange accented man leaves a message implying that you are under some sort of investigation for tax fraud and asking you to call so things don't 'get out of hand'. The nature of the the fraud, the agency who is investigating, or the company he represents remain a mystery. The exact message is below:
"The issue at hand is extremely time-sensitive and very urgent. We have received a legal petition notice against your name regarding tax fraud/tax evasion. So, before things get worse, before things get out of hand, Do call us back immediately. The number where you can reach us, that is 305-230-4727. Again the number is 305-230-4727. Don't disregard this message and do return the call. If I don't hear from you or from your attorney either, all I can do is wish you a good luck, as this situation unfolds upon you. Once again, this is an automated message. Do call us back once you read this message. Thank you and have a good day. Bye." - KimA fraud and liar don't entertain it.
- Caller: IRS
- Kim replies to CarlyI've been getting the exact same voicemails now for two weeks. Last nights message he was shouting and telling me to get my attorney to call him urgently and if not he wanted to wish me good luck for the rest of my life! I'm glad I googled the telephone number. Hopefully he will ring back today as my husband is at home and will be ready for this nutter!
- PATTISaid they were the IRS, said they sent me a letter regarding tax evasion and I would be arrested within 5 hours if I did not comply...shows to be homestead, Fl. I told them IRS only send letters they do not call and even though he said he sent a letter an knew my home address he hung up on me after I requested a claim # or acknowledgement of the letter.
- CWG40 replies to ac8125The nature of the fraud should be pretty clear. They pretend to be IRS, tell you all sorts of terrible things are now going to happen to you because of some error on your taxes. Then they tell you they can make the whole thing go away if you just wire them some money by untraceable means. The calls originate in India and Pakistan and come out of about several hundred calls centers with about 30 employees per call center. They scam about 23,000,000 dollars per year from gullible Americans who do not understand the simple basics of the federal income tax or the US Constitution. Ignore these people and block their calls. For some reason women are especially susceptible to this scam. As are recent immigrants and the elderly.
