At 11:39 am this morning I received a call from 305-396-8303 (Marathon, FL) on my home phone from Harry (a man with a strong Indian accent) who claimed to be calling on behalf of Verizon. He said he knew that I had a Verizon wireless account and that it was “leaking interference” onto all the wireless accounts in my vicinity. He said I should go to my Windows computer and log in. When I told him I had no Windows computers, he asked if I had a Mac computer. I said I did. He again gave me the line that I should go to my Mac computer and log in and he would show me that the computer was “leaking interference.” I told him that this was not possible as I had virus protection, it was a Mac, and that computers don’t leak. He was insistent that I do so in order for him to prove that I was wrong. At this point, I lost patience, told him that he should be ashamed of himself, that his call was a scam and hung up. I reported this call to a Verizon employee, who said they had no offices nor employees in Florida.
