- Deniece Shepard| 1 replyCan someone please help me trace where this calling is contacting me from? My 81 year old father who lives in AR has been receiving calls from telemarketers this week professing to be affilitated with the U.S. Customs/Border Protection Department in Miami, FL. They claim that my father won a Thanksgiving sweepstakes last year from the Publishers Clearing House and they have been trying to deliver the award to him for quite a while.

- Paul replies to Deniece ShepardJust today I got a call from the same #, the Lady claimed to be from customs for the same reason.... I had won a $495,000.00 from publishers clearing house, and that they were holding it up from original delivery date of 10/05/10.... the call was from Fla. but I checked customs on the web, and the ph. # was no where to be found.... it is however from NW 15th street in Miami, but not customs. Now I am trying to figure out how to report this issue. and possibly get everyone involved !!
- Paul Partridge| 1 replyI had first received a call on 10-04-10 from a Steve Morgan from 516 - 830 - 3932 (new york call), claiming to be from publishers clearing house, stating that I had won 2nd place $495,000.00 in Nov. 2009 and they had been trying to get a hold of me, that it would be mailed to me on 10-05-10.... never got it. Then today 10-12-10 at12:32 pm. I got a call from 305-728-4727 (Miami Fla.) a lady saying that she was from customs, and they were holding the mail from this so called publishers clearing house winnings. I explained to her the research that I did...and she said she was going to call p.c.h to find out what was going on.... little does she know... I am doing everything I can to bust everyone involved!

- EB from Philly| 2 repliesI got a call on Thursday 10/21 on my cell phone from a Steve Morgan tel # 516-833-3593 also claiming to be from Publisher's Clearing House and stating I had won 2nd place $495,000 in their recent sweepstakes and they have sent two letters already about it, didn't I get them? I said no I did not. He verified my address and then informed me that they would be sending me a package on 10/22 between 1 and 3 pm by a private courier and that I would need to provide ID verifying my identity. Also asked if I had a bank account, credit card, etc I said yes, but I told him I was not planning to give him any personal info because I was sure this was a scam. He kept telling me he was just trying to do his "job" getting this check to me. He offered me the option of donating the money back to the American Negro College Fund who sponsored this particular sweepstakes. I said while they are a worthwhile concern, it does not happen to be one of my personal charities. He then gave me the claim # and ck serial # and also reminded me I would need to pay IRS their share of my winnings and the paperwork would be included in the package with the check. He gave me 2 phone #'s one of which he answered with his name when I called back on a non-traceable phone #. The 2nd # rang several times and eventually started to go to voice mail. I hung up on both calls without saying anything. I was just checking to see how far they were going with this scam. I wrote all the info down figuring I would report it if more came out of it. Well, surprise, surprise no package arrived on Friday, 10/22. By chance I happened to be home during the appointed time to no avail. I was a little rude to Mr. Morgan so I figured that was the end of it. However, I got another call yesterday from a Michael Brown at Reader's Digest asking me if I'd spoken with one of their reps last week. I said no I talked with someone from Publisher's Clearing House. He said we're the same company. He asked what the rep told me and then asked if I got the check/package and if I'd "taken care" of IRS. I said no to the check/package and no to contacting IRS. He was kind of ticked that I didn't have the package and had not paid IRS either. I listened for a minute or two and then informed him that he was not only wasting my cell phone minutes but also my lunch break on a phone call that was clearly a scam. I told him not to call me back and hung up. Both calls came in at 12:40 PM. Today I got another call about 1:20 PM from tel # 305/728-4727 from a "Michelle Becks" telling me that she was from the US customs department at the Miami Airport. She said they had a package with a return address from the Publisher's Clearing house that was delivered there for me on 10/22. She said she'd left 2 messages for me already...which she did not as there is no record of any calls from that # or area code on my cell phone. She told me my full address which was supposedly on the package and asked me what I wanted her to do with the package. I told her that as far as I was concerned it was a scam and it is starting to creep me out. She asked if I wanted her to return the package to sender. I told her to do that and ended the call. I have no idea whether I'll hear anything else from these clowns, but I know beyond any doubt it is a scam. I just cannot figure out how they got my cell phone #. Very few people have it. I use it mostly for emergencies. I'm really uncomfortable about all of this.

- Florida daughter replies to Paul PartridgeMy mother received call from 516-830-3932 from "Marcus Real" with exact same message and amount on Oct. 29, 2010. Thank goodness she was alert enough to think it might be a scam. So if you find a place to report, they are still at it.
- JamesThis is a scam. Number is being used by people misrepresenting themselves as US Customs and are charging people for packages they are told they received for them. However, to clear Customs they must pay a fee. They are then given an address to mail the money. They are in fact not US Customs. Other numbers they use are 305 728-4727 and 800 503-5376.
- Ione's Son, JohnYesterday, Nov 11th, my mom got a NY call from 516-830-3932 (Off Caller ID) claiming to be from Publisher's Clearing House saying she won $495,000 ! They had her address already and wanted to come meet her today at 2:00pm. Of course, her facility's security and the local police should be there, too.
I tried calling them back and after numerous attempts at getting a full mailbox, I finally got this Marcos guy claiming to be from Publisher's Clearing House. Of course, he was very busy and had to call me back with details. Now that I see this site, I'm sorry I gave out one of my cell #'s to return the call which I don't expect to happen.
I want to know how to bring down these scammers. What can I do to get my mom off their call list?
P.S. On Oct 26th, a cell call came from George @ 876-485-3749 who called to say mom won a Mercedes and a million bucks which she could claim at her local WalMart. Mom just needs to pay $750 for shipping & handling. George didn't want mom to tell me about this because it will be a surprise. A half later he calls back wanting to bring the car over and meet up with her. I let him know we turned his # into the local police and he stopped calling, but now comes another scam above.- Caller: Publishers Clearing House
- Laura LMichelle Becks conned my father out of $3,600 - I wish all these con artists would rot in hell!
- PatriotMajor scam!!! Happened like clockwork after I received the initial call and told a Fed Ex package would arrive at the house. I researched this scam after that call and was prepared for the call from the Customs agent. And sure enough at 10:03 this morning I get the call. Customs in Miami received a suspicious package so it was opened, the 10,000 declaration form the whole nine yards... Blah Blah Blah... So after he told me my options which the first one was to take care of ti in person, then the second was to pay the 4950.00 by credit card, I told David Oconnell I would book a flight right away and take care of it in person today... Ha he started getting flustered and told me I would have to make an appointment and tried to get me to go with the credit card... I told him he just told me option one was to pick it up in person so what's the problem.. He started getting angry and ultimately hung up on me before I got the chance to confront him about why is he was trying to rip me off. Idiots!!!! It's unfortunate people don't realize if it sounds too good to be true 99.9% of the time it is.....
- GAMMy mother received exactly the same phone calls yesterday and then today from the "Customs" agent, Sharon Daniels, from Miami, FL. I called her back on the number she provided to my Mom and she became extremely rude and irate when I informed her that I was an investigator and was going to contact Customs immediately to verify her employment. She stated that she did not have to speak to me and that my Mother had told her to send the package back from wherever it came - however, she had not directed her to do so. Apparently, the scam is to get the elderly to send money or give up bank account numbers in order to 'receive' their supposed money. These creeps are scum. I will be circulating all of these posts to the director of the property where my Mother resides in order to protect the other residents.

- cammy replies to EB from PhillyI recieved the same exact call yesterday (1/12/2011) telling me the same exact thing you mentioned, I immediatley called PCH to report the incident. My package is supposed to arrive today between 10 & 2pm. I;m waiting for the second fraud call to come in.
- Gerry replies to EB from PhillyThis morning, Feb. 1, 2011 at 08:15 AM I received a a call from a Michael Owens (516-833-3593) from New York Claiming to be from Publisher's Clearing House informing me I had won the Second Prize worth$495,000. My wife took the call and he asked that I call him back at the above listed New York number.
She asked him what I needed to do to claim this second place award from PCH. He told her that he had to talk directly to me to confirm my identity. This sounded like a a scam to me! So I looked up this site on the Internet and found that others are are also being scammed. I found that EB from Philly had experienced almost the same identical call as mine. The phone # is exactly the same. How do I help stop this SCAM? - brianrecived same call from Todd Lomax and should be getting package tomorrow, sounds like a scam. too good to be true.

- TheresaI'm a private duty nurse and my client received the exact same phone call today from 866-978-8537. (I looked up the number and it appears to be originating from India) Saying he won $495,000 from Publisher's Clearing House and the caller was a US Customs agent in San Antonio, TX. I interrupted the conversation, asked for his full name, badge number, call back number and the name of his immediate supervisor. He got flustered, said they just changed their phone numbers and will have to call us back. Weird..... never got that return call :) Scum bag scammers.
