- lkemer replies to EllieTalk with them, they will help you in any way they can. I had no problem with them and they are helping me in many ways.
- CWG40 replies to lkemer| 2 repliesI don't see how they could help you with past due property taxes. Some counties have property-tax delay laws for people past a certain age and at a certain income. Basically the property tax liability is postponed until the person dies or the property is sold. You can find that out for yourself. Something odd here.
- CWG40| 7 repliesCalled "My Advocate" which is misleading--they are an insurance company. Their title makes them seem like a social service group; they are not. Just an ordinary medical insurance company. So far as I can determine, there is no way a private insurance company can reduce the medical premium from someone's social security check. If you feel there is a benefit you're entitled to, you can simply go to the local SS office and tell them the situation and they will see if you in fact qualify. My Advocate's services are not free and they are going to charge you for something you can do for free yourself.
Frankly, I'd be wary of these people. There's something going on here and they aren't telling anyone.- Caller: Informational post
- Scott replies to Lorraine Kemeryou keep telling all these people that the number is on the UP & UP. WHEN one of them gets burned, are YOU going to reimburse them for their loss? didn't think so..I was also just contacted by this number at 6AM in the morning. sorry, but NO legit agency calls that early..
- greenish replies to CWG40| 1 replyperhaps Ikemer works for them.......
- Julie Gainey, SHIP Counselor| 4 repliesI work for an Area Agency on Aging in Indiana. I am a trained State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP) Counselor. I had a lady come in with several packets from "My Advocate" and this number where she had contacted them several times. She said they wanted her to send them her personal information and bank statements. I explained to her that she could get the same service for free through any Area Agency on Aging or Aging and Disabled Resource Center (ADRC).
- ADMy advocate is not a scam. My parents just signed up for United Healthcare supplement insurance. My Advocate works with UHC to help my parents in applying for Medicaid and other senior discount services. The process of applying for social services like medicaid is very cumbersome with lots of paperwork involved. My advocate helps with this process and applies for the service behalf of the applicants. That's why they do need all the personal and financial info that you would have provided to medicaid anyways.

- Terpodion| 1 replyThey called once. I looked them up and read the numerous posts here and elsewhere. The next time they called I answered. I told them to put our number on their do not call list and not to call ever again. Still they persist in calling every day. I'm reporting them to the NDNCR (National Do NOt Call Registry). If they are a legitimate business, they are required to obey the rules. If they don't, they are not a legitimate business and are simply scammers.

- joiseygirl replies to CWG40| 6 repliesPlease don’t put out incorrect info if you don’t know what you’re talking about. This is a real company that is contracted to help people who need assistance by their medical insurance company. I currently get rx assistance and they called me to see if they can help me with other state programs to get assistance paying for Medicare or my Medicare supplement insurance. I called Aetna the first time I was contacted and My Advocate is REAL. By telling people this is a scam you’re possibly preventing them from getting assistance to make their lives easier.
- BigA replies to joiseygirl| 2 repliesYou should take your own advice. First, CWG40 is an Enrolled IRS Agent so he is certainly much more knowledgeable than you will ever be. Second, thanks for bringing this thread up since we have already have had people coming here singing their praises. I personally have had them try to scam me. I was going to put up a report on them but it seems my report is outdated since the BBB has listed all of their known names as "out of business". Another shill whose lies have been exposed.
- MikeHuntleton replies to joiseygirl| 2 repliesFirst of all, you need to put your glasses on and re-read that post! Nowhere in it does it mention the word scam, let alone infer it is one. Telling people they can do something for free, that a company wants to be paid to do is not calling it a scam. Making a comment about the name sounding like it is a social service group, when its just an insurance company, is not calling it a scam.
Now if you are refering to this part.....
......and your trying to say they make that claim, then I would believe it is a scam!Quote:a private insurance company can reduce the medical premium from someone's social security check.
Pull your head out and find something useful to do besides demonstrating your inability to read. - BigA replies to MikeHuntletonI have personally run into this scam criminal outfit. They refuse to stop calling you unless you give them your information including full name, DOB, SS#, address, etc. I have no idea how they got my phone number to begin with so they were simply cold calling me. I will make it a point to track them down again and expose them. The first Google street view I had of their office was a dumpster. :)

- joiseygirl replies to Julie Gainey, SHIP Counselor| 3 repliesMy Advocate is free. I'm getting help from them right now. I was at the end of my rope dealing with depression, struggling to survive because I couldn’t afford to pay for Medicare, my supplement policy and day to day cost of living. Please don’t put inaccurate information on the internet about something that could keep someone afloat and allow them to finally sleep at night instead of worrying how they’re going to pay their Medicare premium AND find a way to pay for food.
