First I received a call from 347-568-6214, from a hispanic guy who said his name was James Capra, Special Agent with the DEA, and he threatened to have the DEA arrest me for illegal medication buying over the internet, with a threat that DEA would fine me $8,000 and throw me in jail for 7 to 20 years.  However, as a special favor (?) he would keep the information to himself if I would IMMEDIATELY send 30% of the fine - his arithmetic was a little wonky as he demanded $2,800 - by Western Union to somebody named Ariel Camacho in New Yrk, NY.

I told him i'd have to first go to my bank, get the cash, and then travel way across town to a Western Union office.  Meanwhile I google searched for James Capra DEA.  Turns out James Capra is Special Agent in Charge of the DEA's Dallas Division.  Nice looking guy, as un-hispanic as you could imagine.  I called the Dallas office of the DEA {214-366-6900} and was assured that the DEA never requested money over the phone, and that their records were full of similar threat scams.  The DEA said just ignore the guy.

Then I got a call from 305-907-8669 from another hispanic named Mr.!! Gonzales, a so-called DEA Senior Agent with the same threat and told me to contact the other hispanic, again IMMEDIATELY.

I didn't tell him what he could do with his threat (probably physically impossible anyway), but I simply hung up on him and ignored it.

So if you're phoned from either of these two numbers (and I'm sure there are a few more) ignore the calls.  They're scary I know, because the threats sound valid and who wants to risk jail time or fines, but according to the real DEA, they are simply scams.

Long message, but I sincerely hope it gives you some comfort if you're a victim of these scams, or should I say scumbags?

So relieved that you shared this in a post, THANK YOU!  Once again, a call came in from Florida, this time a different number and I pretended it was someone else answering phone.  The calls are coming in from various numbers, the latest is from a 863 area code and a 727 areacode.....now daily.  When I hang up, they leave messages on my voicemail.  If this is a scam, why aren't these guys getting arrested?? Scary..........So DEA is saying ignore calls?  Thats it?

I'm so thankful I found this site tonight.  Up until an hour ago, I've been in tears and scared to death.  I received a call today from a "DEA" agent in Boston, MA, (different phone #, but wanted to post, hope okay) telling me I'm going to be arrested (they were going to be at my house soon, but he stepped in) since I have no criminal record, etc.  He said I received a Fed Ex pkg of controlled meds in May and that they tracked it thru Fed Ex, etc.  He said my choice was to go to court in either the District of Columbia or Dominican Republic (can't remember, was so upset) and was facing federal charges, arrest, etc. etc.  I started crying thinking this was real (still unsure, but all of your posts seem to make it sound like a scam).  He put me on hold while he called the "Customs Agent" in either of the above places and worked out a deal for me.  He said I could pay them (DC or DR) $1800.00 in 3 days.  He also told me he really hates this part of his job and was sorry I was so upset, but that I either face the charges or pay the fine.  He told me to call him tomorrow (actually said to call him each day for the next 3 days).  The call kept fading in and out....not sure why and he kept telling me to hold on.  Hoping someone can confirm this really is a scam.  I won't be sleeping tonight.  Why and how can people get away with this?

    Annoyed
A lying, creep sociopath con man with a heavy accent using the name of legitimate DEA Special Agent James Capra told me he had a package with my name on it. He claimed that I had ordered drugs online (did not) and that there is a warrant out for my arrest. He said I have also been accused of selling drugs (never have/never would) which will land me in jail 3-7 years in a foreign country. He said the fine is usually $25,000, but he would accept $1,500 in order for me to avoid arrest... Wired Western Union immediately. I asked him where he was located, and he told me San Francisco, but when I looked up the real DEA Agent Capra, he is located in Dallas, TX. I asked the creep how many children he had and the name of his wife... He said he is not my friend and refused to answer. Then he came back 2 minutes later and gave me the info. I told him that he must have had to read the true website for DEA Agent Capra, which made him angry. This EVIL man called from 424-901-0931 and left the call back number of 866-570-4445. When I hung up on him, he had another man leave a threatening message calling himself Special Agent Williams... He gave me 60 seconds to call him back or they would arrest me tonight. I called the REAL DEA Office in Dallas TX at 214-366-6900 and was told that the REAL James Capra does not talk to the public, that the DEA NEVER calls individuals to demand money or threaten arrest... Which became obvious as the FAKE Sociopath Agent Capra became angry with my questions/comments. I was told to never open emails that say "Your Pharmacy Order Is Ready To Ship," since criminals can gain information from me by opening the email. My son said that they probably put a virus on my computer... Scary!  I stated to the time wasting Creep that was emotionally tormenting me, that I've been watching too much NCIS, because it feels like there's a gun to my head and I'm being asked to wire ransom money to save my loved ones, which surprised him. I suppose he also did not anticipate so many questions back at him... I can't imagine a REAL DEA Agent becoming ANGRY at ANY questions!  He should have also thought about the fact that the number he was calling from had a LOS ANGELES area code 424... Not San Francisco as he stated!! What an annoying nightmare!! These people are PURE EVIL !!

    Just another creep
Phone call from 562-472-0253, caller identifying as James Capra, DEA.  Same guy with the heavy accent.  Fortunately, I was asleep and the answering machine got it.  Gave me enough time to clear my head and check the internet for more info ....

(804)490-7479 THIS IS A SCAM!!! THIS JAMES CAPRA IS NOT A DEA AGENT!!!
Same experience as those above- heavy hispanic accent, very threatening- tries to be intimidating. Just confirmed with Virginia DEA via phone that this is indeed a scam. You can read more about it at www.DEAdiversion.usdoj.gov
You can report the scam, if you find yourself a victim, to 1(877)792-2873.
Do not let this scum get away with this! Report him immediately to the legit DEA with as much info as possible. Suprisingly, the DEA still has not caught him, as I see above posts dating back 18+ months ago. When I call the number back (he's actually dumb enough to let it show up on caller ID), he answers the phone! Whitepages.com shows this number as a landline registered to an 89 year old woman in Virginia Beach, VA that recently passed away. How hard is it to catch & prosecute this guy? They have verifiable evidence that he made the calls & scammed people, yet he's apparently still in business! Perhaps the real DEA agent James Capra in Dallas, TX will do something about it!
