The woman said she is from MBS calling on behalf of the Salvation Army.  I was sorry to hear that they use a fundraiser for donations because I believe they are a good charity and these fundraising people are so annoying.  I do contribute to them and this person knew I had recently, and knew the amount.  I asked her how much goes to her fundraising company and she said they get paid by the call.  I told her I would be happy to donate, but would do it through the mail.  I am afraid if I donate thru MBS they will never stop calling for the SA or any other charity they might represent at some point.

Just got a call, nothing on called ID, answered on a whim. They asked for my dad, and butchered our last name. That's when I hung up.

3 May, 8:30pm, auto blocked, This charity scammer uses many different numbers and CID names. It is based out of Chicago. Don't give them anything and hang up immediately.

12 May, 4:20pm, Calls from 519-315-8813 and 309-270-1933 separated by less than 3 minutes. Both scam calls have the same repetoire of scammer stories. Most likely both calls originate from the same Chicago location and both are auto blocked. CID is clearly spoofed. These two numbers and two others are clearly time related ab all probably originate from the same location!!!

This appears to be a Chicago boiler room operation using at least five different spoofed CID numbers: 217-666-4115, 224-250-9923, 309-270-1933, 519-315-8813, and 630-481-7958. They all use the same set of scam stories. The call source appears to be Chicago because most of the spoofed numbers have Chicago area codes.  Do not give any personal or credit card info. Get a call blocker from Amazon.com such as a CPR blocker with a 1200 number blocker list.

Trying to raise money for themselves by getting your personal information. Hope they rot in hell. Report them all to the FTC.

5:00pm, They claim to represent a lot of good charities, DON'T give them a penny. DO give to the charity of your choice DIRECTLY. Donating to an anonymous voice on a phone just puts money into the scammers bank account..

You mention number spoofing so why are you convinced these calls originate in Chicago? Just because the area code given is a Chicago area code does not mean the calls are originating in Chicago. They're quite likely coming from overseas.

So frustrated with these people! They always hang up when voice mail starts. They want to play their
games. I'll play too. Block them!

I'm with you, if you don't answer eventually the number of calls drop. As soon as we turn the answering device on, the calls increase. If no one EVER answered, surely the lame brains would stop.

November/December is holiday charity scam season. Don't fall for it! Don't answer, then block!

7:40pm, CID=>CHILLICOTHE IL, charity scammers are back in action. My call blocker worked perfectly and dumped the scum after one ring. Anything you donate goes to their pocket!!!!

The answer is very simple. Over 70% of the calls I receive have a greater Chicago area code. Most calls have almost identical sales pitches. Frequently you can hear the entire boiler room in the background. Some of the calling room operations have given their name and they are headquartered in Chicago. Check the other reports.

Two more calls from these idiots 17 Dec & 22 Dec. Both calls dumped by my blocker after one ring!!!
