Leaves a message on my work voicemail trying to confirming my employment here. If I was not working here, why would I have my own extension. The recording was not the best but it sounded like the person was named Bob Fox. I suspect some collector.

Ben fox from 309-277-8705 keeps trying to verify my employment but won't actually talk to me.  Checked into the company he claimed to work for and it doesn't exist anymore and the address he gave is a residential address.

Called supposedly collecting for a doctor's office my soon to be ex-husband may have gone to.  Tried to threaten my credit and said I was responsible for his debt.  Will be getting ahold of the doctor's office tomorrow to inform them of his illegal practices.

Ben Fox called me yesterday and left a voicemail. He did not say what company he was with, just that he needed to talk with me. I called back after reading these posts, but would not give him any information over the phone. He was very rude so I hung up. I checked into the issue with the doctor he was collecting for and they do use L & M Accounts, which is who Mr.Fox claims to work for. My advice would be to do the same if you receive a phone call from him or any other collector. Any debt can be resolved with the office where service was provided. There are many individuals out there posing as the ligit collector, and many people are scammed out of their money. Always a good idea to call your dr or the business in which the debt is owed before giving any account information over the phone.

I started receiving calls on my house phone as well as on my cell phone about a week ago from this phone number.  The gentleman identified himself on my voicemail as Ben Fox and that it was important that I call him back.  I must admit that I chose not to return his calls as the message seemed vague and that if it was important that Mr. Ben Fox would find a way to convey this supposed important information without me interacting with him directly.  Mr. Fox called my place of employment to inform me that I owe a debt to a local Quad Cities creditor.  I told Mr. Fox that I am busy and that I would like to handle this matter but it needs to be outside of working hours.  Mr. Fox politely let me go and I gave him my word that I would call him back.  I called Mr. Fox back that evening to get more information on this alleged debt and he provided me with details to my satisfaction that justify that this was indeed a legitimate debt.  Mr. Fox demanded that I pay the balance.  I explained to him that I had fallen upon hard times due to my medical condition and was on medical leave for a period of time with only my wife providing income and that it was not feasible to pay the balance.  He asked me questions about my wife's employer and income and about our debt.  I am not one to normally be comfortable discussing such things but Mr. Fox's tone changed when I started to explain our circumstances. Ultimately, I ended up setting up a payment plan with appropriate payments. To be honest, this was not the first time I had dealt with a debt collector.  Some of them are rude, inconsiderate, and unnecessarily hostile.  Ben Fox was approachable and human while still doing his job.  Props to him because I wouldn't want to have his job.

This person is ridiculously agressive on the phone and doesnt tell you what company he works for just that you have a debt and if you cant pay you can talk to his attorney. How incredibly unproffessional.

Ben Fox has been blowing up my phone at work and at home leaving messages without saying what he wants.  He is now faxing a paper over to my boss wanting to verify that I work there.  I haven't returned his calls and my employer told him he needs to send a signed release by me before they will release any information to him.  I owe a lot of people money and have done a bad job with payment plans.  My reasons, or excuses as some might say, as to not paying my bills is typical to most people.  I already have bad credit and don't really care.  Any advice as to how I should handle this situation?

Bill collector who is calling from a cell phone?? And calling my home, my daughter, my work secretary, and my cell phone repeatedly but wouldn't tell me who he was calling for, what debt, or Doctor, or that he was a bill collector! Very rude and I didn't know it was L&M until I saw this website! And it's all a huge mistake... I have full insurance & my procedure was preapproved and I have a insurance paper showing they were paid, slower than usual but paid! Omg!

This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this,  all for an alleged or nonexistent debt.  One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying.  They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number.  Please note that process servers do not ever call ahead.  That way you can’t dodge them.
