Called but did not leave message, searched reverse phone, but it says phone number isn't valid. then another number from from the same area code called ten minutes later

ITs a scam!!! Do not answer

Caller asked for a friend of my son who doesn't live here, but who does have many financial problems. I asked if they wanted to leave a message, but the guy just "grunted", that's the only way to express it, and hung up. I assume it's a bill collector, because I've had several for this poor kid, (He's only 18 and out on his own with a highly dysfunctional family.) but this person didn't say anything at all after asking to speak with him. The Caller Id said "Sidney Jackson" and I answered it without thinking. Usually the collectors come up as private number or unknown number. I'll have to be more vigilant.

Called my cell phone and some how knew my name when my cell isnt even in my name and gave my boyfriend a hard time when he asked to take a message...the guy hung up on him.

They called and didn't leave a message called back and there was an answering service for the same company

I called the number back and it's a recording for MJF Publishing. I googled them and there is no company by that name coming up... Strange

Said I was a potential contest winner, should have picked up on the scam aspect when they said the drawing was in 60-90 days.  Did not come up with a caller ID. Short survey, then it went to free magazine subscriptions and a 1000 dollar restaurant, hung up at that point before they tried to sell me something

Called my cell, asked for my wife. I told the female that was my wife and could I help her. She then rudely hung up the phone, not just a click, but slamming the phone! I directly called back and received a recording to either place an order, inquire employment or leave a message. Very rude people. Do they even exist? Who is this company?

Said I was a contest winner...very strange..did not request CC information but just general info about marital status and income.  Could not reach anyone when I tried to call back...

So awkward just had a call from this number saying I was a contest winner. The drawing was in sixty to ninety days. I told them very nicely that I was not interested. He seemed very nice and very genuine but it sounds like some type of scam or survey. From the sounds of it, seemed very busy. There was a ton of chatter in the background.

I got a couple of calls from this phone # while @ work & they didn't leave a message. I tried to call them back but I got a voice recording that said all circuits were busy. Later in the day, someone from that # called again & this time I answered. They knew my name (even though the phone is registered in another name) and told me they were with a publishing company & that I had been entered in a large cash drawing from either MasterCard or Visa.

Phone call came through at 8 pm on my cell on a weeknight from a (310) number.  When I answered it went silent and then disconnected.  They called right back but didn't leave a message.  When I called them back it was an answering machine for MJS (or MJF - I couldn't understand them) publishing.  I'm sure it's a scam!

I got a call also at first they hung up, then i got another call they knew my name and asked me to verify my age. Then they told me that they asked me if my house address was the same one that they had in their computer. They told me that i had been entered in a contest for visa. I am almost certain it is a scam.

They called me on my husbands phone not my own. So strange. And when I said hello he hung up and I called the number back and got the recording for mjf publishing so I googled that name and came out here.

Just called and said i had been entered into a contest...asked me five questions about marital status, i was vedry vague, I believe it was a scam. How do I protect myself?
