- SarahI haven't answered any of the 6 calls received in the last two days either. However, I did call it back and there was a message that said if you are not interested in their offer (whatever it is) to press "1." Then it just says "Thank you" and disconnects. Hopefully it works.

- DanielleReceived a call and I missed it. They called back with a delayed "hello" said they were calling about my visa account ending in XXXX. They said that there was nothing wrong with the account, they were just sending me a $100 GC to use for gas. I didn't respond. They asked if I still lived in _____ and I didn't respond and they said uh oh, something is wrong with my phone and they hung up!

- askypilotI keep getting calls from this number, fishing for my name, trying to get a verification. They are persistant, but I havn't given them, what they are looking for, yet. Their M O is that the call is breaking up and they will call back later, then they hang up. I did a number look up like most on here and they are a company in Compton CA.
- YertKept getting calls on wife's cell. She never answered. Finally I called back & opted out of future calls. Some guy calls again the morning & I gave him the airhorn in his ear. Let's see if he calls back.
- aaa34237I rec'vd a call (msg) yesterday from this # on my machine. It was a man (who did not identify himself), acting as though he were a long lost friend. He never mentioned debt or asked for a return call. As the caller did not speak clearly, I was unable to make out several words in the msg.
- Caller: out of area
- 5yrslater replies to abYou said these [***] called you in 2008 & now 2013 they're still harrasing people. Guess it doesen't matter who you call for help because they're still getting away with it.
- SueIf you don't recognize the number you are better off not answering they will stop calling if you don't answer. If the call is important they will leave a message.I always look a unknown number up. I am glad I did. I don't own a credit card so I know I am not in debt.

- L. PierReceived a call from 310-599-5774 on 03/05/2013 @ 10:28 am CST. Being how I did not recognize this number factored with the fact I have NO connection to California, I did not answer. Caller did not leave a voice message. I attempted to return this call and an outgoing message states it is not a working number. I AM on the Do Not Call list. Being unable to return this call verifies why I do not answer calls generated from unusual areas I have no association with.

- GompersIf calls like this arrive on your cellphone, create a contact called "#Spam01" and assign this number to it. Set it for no ringtone. I have about 70 numbers assigned this way going all the way up to "#Spam14."
Unfortunately my carrier charges to block more than 10 numbers at a time. - ShellyThese people call often and they do not want anything. I would like them to stop calling.
- Caller: Intercon Corp
- Call type: Telemarketer
- s.c.I didn't answer their call and they didn't bother leaving a voice mail. I called them right back and a recorded voice said that I had reached a nonworking number. These people gripe my ass!!
- Jim M.310-599-5774. Just called at 10:25am on the 5th of March....I saw the number and didn't recognize it, so I figured if it was important, they would leave a message. Then I decided to just turn the phone OFF while it was still ringing. :). Leaves a nice little message for THEM like; this phone is not working or is no longer in service...... How about that for turning the tables on them....now I always check the phone number ONLINE FIRST BEFORE I RETURN CALLS....hope this helps. :).

- ladywarrior0505Consumers are getting more robocalls than ever. Technology is the reason. Companies are using autodialers that can send out thousands of phone calls every minute for an incredibly low cost.
Using its enforcement authority, the FTC has stopped companies responsible for billions of illegal robocalls that have offered fraudulent credit card services, so called auto warranty protection plans, medical discount cards, and grant procurement programs.
We're continuing aggressive law enforcement efforts, pursuing innovative strategies to gather evidence against robocall kingpins, producing consumer education, working with industry and other experts, and offering a prize to innovators that can creat a technical solution.
These "robocalls" are illegal even if your phone number is not on the National Do Not Call Registry!
Tips:
1. HANG UP THE PHONE! Don't press 1 (or any button) to speak to a live operator and don't press any other number to get your number off the list. If you respond by pressing any number, it will probably just lead to more robocalls. (you have just proven to them your phone is legitimate)
2. Consider contacting your phone provider and asking them to block the number, and whether they charge for that service. Remember that telemarketers change Caller ID information easily and often, so it might not be worth paying a fee to block a number that will change.
3. Report your experience to the FTC online or by calling 1-888-382-1222.- Caller: Unknown
- richard replies to DR. Twhat i do is block the number but the problem is that you can only block so many numbers( with my provider i am allowed up to 5) or i save the numbers on my contact list and name them and i set them for no ring tone.
