I just received the same message as stated above. It's a scam - the IRS doesn't make initial contact with a phone call. You would receive a letter 1st. Also, if it were the IRS, it would be a live person on the line.
    I blocked the number.

The IRS reminds people that they can know pretty easily when a supposed IRS caller is a fake. Here are five things the scammers often do but the IRS will not do. Any one of these five things is a tell-tale sign of a scam. The IRS will never:
Call to demand immediate payment, nor will we call about taxes owed without first having mailed you a bill..

Demand that you pay taxes without giving you the opportunity to question or appeal the amount they say you owe.

Require you to use a specific payment method for your taxes, such as a prepaid debit card.

Ask for credit or debit card numbers over the phone.

Threaten to bring in local police or other law-enforcement groups to have you arrested for not paying.

Yes! I've had multiple calls. It's a SCAM. My husband is a CPA, so I know the IRS will contact you by mail first. I've reported these to the IRS. I just had another call yesterday and this time I called back to get as much info as I could. The guy barely spoke English. I got his name/ID #, which of course is fake. He tells me I owe 1,000 from 2009-2014 taxes. I tell him what my husband does for a living and I seriously doubt that we owe that. He then starts yelling and telling me that I will be arrested in 45 minutes. I told him that I would just take my chances on that. The scary thing, is so many people fall for this. It's sad.

These calls from Gardena are getting out of hand.  I've blocked several numbers and I'm about ready to try and figure out how to block the whole area code.

I received a call on Aug 4 about the same thing. I tried to file a false representation report with the IRS online. That site forwarded me to the FCC website where I filed a report. Later that day, a TV news reporter in Kansas City said a scam was active and people were receiving calls about an IRS lien. He advised to "Hang UP".

India has a population of around 1 billion people, do you really think that arresting 70 of these scammers will put them out of business?  What about the ones in Pakistan?  And pretty much all the countries over there?
