- CAH replies to Robin| 2 repliesDo you know that telling these scammers to stop calling you on this forum does no good. THEY don't need to look up these numbers, they already know they're criminals. Report them to your Attorney General and screen all your calls.
- Chris in CT replies to CAH| 1 replySo true & well stated.
www.donotcall.gov report the number. They get fined for calling numbers on the do not call list. - bonniedo not call
- Jan VickiI purposely did not answer this call and I do not answer calls from unknown numbers. They are usually fradulent and a thinly disguised attempt to obtain as much information about you from your smart phone. As soon as you answer a call like this or call them back, you are allowing them to "backdoor" into your phone through an app or other port that is unprotected. If you have an IPhone or Android phone, there are many app's which allow you to block all calls like this. Many of them are free. To protect yourself and your data on your phone, you should install something like this. Do not answer or call numbers like this back. If you think the number might be legitimate, look it up on the Internet before calling it back. And continue to report all calls like this to the FTC and maybe someday they will be able to crack down on these clearly fraudulent and illegal activities.

Typical loudmouth academic.... - Citbank Isa ScamReceived a call from this Chicago phone number 312-273-9060 on Jan. 25, 2012 at 6:45 pm. When you call back you get that prerecorded message "You have been selected to participate in a Survey…" I am on the do not call list and it is a cell phone.

- AdviceI have been receiving calls from various numbers on my cell phone. Could be the same people working a list using different numbers or your cell phone number has been sold. I am also on the do not call registry which I think makes things worse because they don't do anything to stop these calls. My carrier is Sprint and I just called customer service to give them a list of numbers that have been calling me to block. You folks may want to get with your carriers and do the same thing. Unfortunately, this is something that I cannot input myself so each time I get a call, I have to call Sprint to have it blocked. Is it a hassle, a little bit; but less of a hassle of receiving numerous calls from numbers that you don't know. Try it, and free yourself from these scamming idiots. While there may not be a way to get ahead of them, at least be proactive.
- Kela KittyGot a call this morning from 502/873-0294 saying it was Anne from Political Opinions of America and I'd won a free cruise to the Bahamas (on the Bahamas Celebration ship owned by Caribbean Cruise Lines) for competing a 3-question survey. Turns out the travel agency they transferred me to is really trying to sell discounted airfare and if you don't agree to that they just want your credit # to pay for the "port tax" of $59/person (that's $118 total, as others have posted). I'm not sure, but that sounds really high for port taxes and in any case, this is actually called 'SUGing" which is an acronym for "selling under the guise" of marketing research. It's highly unethical and as a marketing researcher myself, it really burns me up.
Think about it: even if you leave early in the morning from the port of Palm Beach, FL how much time could you possibly get in the Bahamas if you are only going for two days? Whatever you do, please don't get sucked into this non-sense!- Caller: Political Opinions of America
- AnnieLike almost everyone else on this, my number is on the do not call registry and I also went through the so called survey to find out who and what this organization is. No worthwhile response and I hung up. How do we report this?

503-457-1194 - Oops, I answeredFor me, the calls come from all over the country. I've gotten area codes from Tulsa, Chicago, DC, Vermont, Atlanta, and Kansas City over the last few months. It even leaves me voice mails. This is why we waterboard.
- BabboI have pressed whatever-number-to-be-removed but it hasn't worked, Ive pressed the number to talk to them but it just repeats the call from dear ol' Ann. And I'm not going to spend a nickel to get caller ID. I remember years ago ATT would charge you to block a number, yet they also made money setting up these call centers! Making money on both ends..make $ setting up the nuisance and make $ protecting you from it. Thats extortion. So I normally punch the number to speak to an 'agent' and give them a blast from a shrill whistle. The last time I didn't have my whistle, so I asked the 'lower your credit card rates' guy why he didn't get a legal job. Said it was the only job he could get. So try harder, [***].
With all the destructive computer nerds creating viruses, you would think one would come up with a way to screw these call centers.- Call type: Survey
