I also got a call from this number with no voice mail left.  I did see a post at my.barackobama.com that claims this is a call from the Obama campaign for verifying citizenship of donors.

Yes it is from the obama campaign.  For real.  They are not great with follow up.  But get an A for effort.

Also got the call several times with no message left.  Finally answered since I'd seen numerous reportings that it was the Obama campaign.  Woman says that she needs my passport number, but I told her that I would never give this to someone who called me.

She says she will send an e-mail, but none arrived.  I most likely would not respond to this e-mail, either.

I asked what did the campaign do if contributors don't have a passport and she said it is against the law for them to accept donations from people without passports.  I'm not sure if that is true.

I'm 50-50 on whether or not this is a scam or just volunteer incompetence.

I too had received several of these calls on my caller ID with no message. It appeared on the caller ID as "Illinois" which seemed odd. I did some research and found the number listed in an individual's name. I also contacted Democrats Abroad as I had seen this reported as Obama's campaign number and staff were trying to verify donations from Americans abroad and asking for passport numbers. Dems Abroad stated that it was a legitimate call. If they call again and I am home, I will answer yet I still find it a bit odd that they call from a number that is not a campaign number and that they would ask for the info over the phone when they have all of our e-mail addresses and could provide a secure link for us to provide this info??
