My caller ID showed an Unknown number with no message left.  Therefore, that = telemarketers and or scammers.   Most of these are "robo calls with spoofed numbers," so reporting them to the DNC List does no good.  Be warned, many of them are now using your local area codes and change the main number frequently.  NEVER give or verify personal, credit card, bank or financial information to ANYONE who makes an unsolicited call to you!!!  I "block" these numbers if they keep calling.  I also "Blacklist" any supposed charity that uses telemarketers or calls me because so many of the calls are just frauds.  I recently resorted to turning off the ringer on on my phones so they can't annoy me anymore.

While is certainly could have been a scam call, it might also have not been a sales call.  No one here has posted what the call was about yet.

Yet another scammer/spoofer with an Illinois area code.  Blocked this area code many months ago so it's just a waste of their time.  It's obvious that the DNC list is misunderstood as to the purpose it was designed for.  The DNC list/registry is to keep HONEST businesses/charities/etc., from calling you.  Since these spammers/spoofers have criminal intent, they don't reference the DNC. The bottom line is that these calls are from criminals.   Also, some official political calls are not restricted by the DNC.  Additionally, it's my understanding that the phone companies receive the true calling number and CallerID, as well as the number being spoofed, and can pass along the true number from the calling party if they so choose.  Apparently, most phone companies have elected to pass along the spoofed number.  Perhaps the anger generated by these unwanted calls needs to be redirected to our phone companies.

I live in Arizona and do not know anyone in Chicago, let alone, unknown numbers. I always block them. I purchased a call blocker a year ago and I now have over 530 unknown callers blocked. Don't question who it is when it shows "Unknown Caller", don't answer and block them. Don't worry, they'll call back from a different number.

Just received an automated phone message that my bank card was charged $399 for a renewal of my computer security and antivirus software. The call stated that I should contact them immediately if I want to cancel this renewed subscription. I didn't authorize this to happen, and I believe this is a scam call to get some of my identity information to be used for identity theft schemes. I am contacting my credit card bank to verify now if the charge has gone through just to make sure everything is all right with my credit.

Received call as "restricted". Did not answer... They left a message ...of the # only 312 428 4421.  Called, "Shawn" answered, said was due a refund because they charged me with a virus protection service.  Asked if I was by the computer...no... told me to go to the computer and let him know when I was there.  Told him it would be gotta before I was a there... says I have to be at the computer for him to help me....I told him 1. He did not identify the company he was with. 2, the virus protection plan 3. I would not be going to my computer so he could collect data from me for a scam. He hung up.  Blocking #.

Left voice mail saying my subscription has been renewed and to call if I want it cancelled - I called the number and they told me that they wanted to give me back my money for a Microsoft tech call that I had from last summer; I have NEVER had a Microsoft tech call where I was charged for anything - told them this was a scam and that I would never give them any of my bank information - as soon as I repeated the word scam and that it would be reported they hung up - Be very careful - they are trying to get your banking info.. but, contrary to them telling you it is to give you money back.. they are going to take what you have in the account.  Do NOT give any information to these people.
