This number kept calling a friend of mine, they ways hung up right away, even after she unsubscribed 3 times they kept calling, so I swrote up a spam line for their number

This number called me at 8:30 am saying he was from Allstate and wanted to give me information . I could not believe it , so early in the day . This caller keeps calling me at other times yesterday late in the evening, but did not say anything . What a ridiculous and annoying caller . Complain and block this number .

Caller will not say anything. I want this to stop.

One, stop yelling (typing all in caps). Two, want it to stop? Get a call blocker!

People have a lot of interesting ideas about telemarketing. That random dialing is, somehow, a violation of anything seems pretty humorous. Unless, of course, they are randomly calling people ON a "no call" LIST. If you're on, for example, the national Do Not Call registry, calling you -- randomly or otherwise -- would be wrong unless they are a charity, a survey, or a politician.

It wouldn't be random, but there are ways a certain entity can legally call a specific individual, even if the individual is on the national DNC list. For example, if you are a customer. Becoming a customer of many companies, these days, means you are agreeing to allow them to call your cell phone (Which telemarketers are not allowed to do without permission.) and to call even if you are on the DNC. Read the fine print; it's usually in there. One reason it's there is because it's the law. UNLESS you specifically tell your bank or beautician or air conditioner fixer or any other business you trade with not to, they are AUTOMATICALLY allowed to call, even if you're on the DNC list.  If you give them your cell number, how can you expect they won't call?

So, even if you're on some kind of "no call" list, you can legally be called by some kinds of people. If you're not on a list, then the random idea about calling randomly doesn't even make sense. I mean, how would anyone getting a call ever find out -- or care -- if the call was random or specific?

Cold calling may seem random, but if they know anything about you, then it's hardly random. If they know about you, then clearly they called YOU, specifically.

Now, if it's a new number, did you put it on any do not call list immediately? When you did, how long did they say it would be before the listing would take effect? There's a period of time during which nobody has any way of knowing you've asked to be on the list. A brand new number, not yet 36 years old -- or my number, I've had 36 years. Put either one of them into the registry today, and time must pass before the registry becomes available to telemarketers. Even if they updated their list today, they would have a grace period during which they would be allowed to call because they would have no way of knowing they shouldn't.

The system is upside-down. They should not be allowed to call anybody at all, unless the person being called has GIVEN permission. In other words, the only people they could call should be on a "please call" list, and there should be no need for a Do Not Call list. Naturally, there would probably be exceptions in such a system for Existing Business Relationships, just like there are now. But, the practice of cold calling should be abolished, permanently, or else far more stringent rules applied.

1) A cold caller should be required to let the phone ring ten times, one minute, or until the called party either answers or terminates the call.
2) When the phone is answered, a cold caller should be required to talk or leave a message on voice mail or answering machine, without exception.
3) A cold caller should not be allowed to call more than once a week, and not more than three weeks a year.
There are a few other rules which might make our lives more tolerable, as well. This is just a tip of the iceberg start to what We The People deserve.

The only reason I've gotten multiple calls is because they keep calling when I'm not by the phone. I don't know if they would leave a message, or not. Even if they would, they can't, right now; my answering machine is full, has some important messages, and I haven't had time to deal with them.

I've noticed that callers like this have a tendency to stop calling, if I simply answer. I guess they're crazy, or something. You'd think that not answering would make them not call, right?

I've had at least five calls from this outfit in the last couple of days.  Some from this number in Chicago, some from a number in Seattle.

They've called several times before. Once, I was already on the phone (Thank you, call waiting Caller ID.) and ignored it. Others, I just wasn't by the phone. Just now, I pounced. After only three rings, they were already off of the line.

This is illegal. They are required to let it ring at least four times. Our government doesn't make them let it ring a full minute, or ten rings, which is the polite thing to do. (Ask yourself if you still do that, when you don't get an immediate answer of some kind.) But, to abandon a call after three rings is a no-no.

They are allowed a small percentage of abandoned calls, so (There's no way of knowing for sure without filing a lawsuit and discovery demand.) perhaps this call fell within that little window of leeway.

I called this call type "Unknown" because I, personally, do not actually know. I'm sorry I have no actually useful information about the caller or their purpose. I would love to record them going through their script, to post a transcript on the scripts thread.

Called this morning at 8:30 am, day after Thanksgiving. Been calling for a week. Truly a nuisance!

They call 3 to four times a day, please stop calling.

Is lady the line ask for the lady of the house and she said is frames, there called 2 times to day and just getting on my nerves there need to stop

Caller ID says "HBW" - no message left. Got a similar call with same caller ID from 405-251-9082 for any of you that want to prime your call blockers

"HBS" calls our unlisted number EVERY DAY between 5 & 7 p.m.    These comments/complaints regarding HBS go back as far as 2011 - why are they still in business?

called place of business.. someone said hello but i can tell it was automated.. as soon as i repeated myself, they hung up.. calling from HBW.. do not pick up..

They still call.  HBW is on the ID.

Apparently firing up this number again... as I have another HBW number (281-968-4995) already blocked for calling 5 times in the past month.  I never answer... & they never leave a message.  Blocked this one now too.

Please remove my phone number from your call list. I get 2 calls per day on my home phone.

These idiots hang up every time I answer.  Drop dead jerks! Oh, no, they can't because they are SCAMMERS and are hiding their true identity behind "UNKNOWN NAME" on my caller ID!
