Called work, Indian chick asked a milllion questions about business. I played around with her saying only "yuppppp" and nooooope" for a while and then just told her that I am working and don't have time to answer a bunch of questions. She's like "ma'am I'm not asking a bunch of questions blah blah blah" I told her all that information is on the internet so to go look it up and quit bothering me when I'm trying to WORK!. God I can't stand these morons. Who's got time to "verify" a 100 questions they can easily find the answer to?

Asked a ton of information about our company. She spoke with a thick accent and incredibly fast. I finally just said "I'm sorry I don't have time for this" and hung up.

Caller had a Chicago area code, but was definately from India. The poor phone connection and thick accent made it hard to understand this woman. When I told her to update our info she seemed confused as she is probably used to people saying "yes". Strange call especially since I am in the Chicago suburbs.

I just got a call from this number stating that they needed a survey to update the online yellow pages. It was [***]! I just gave them answers of things they could easily look up but did NOT answer questions like what square feet is your office and how many employees work there and what is the yearly profit of your company. That's way too intrusive!

Learn to hang up on scammers. Or not even answer. This is a well known scam, you will probably get a bogus invoice now.

Got the same call - I always interrupt with "not interested, take me off your list, goodby" and hang up.
NEVER SAY "YES" ON THESE TYPES OF CALLS!

Just got the call. Thick accent from Manufacturers News, as soon as they said it, I hung up. Not going to take responsibility for public information they can find online. Not going to let them waste my time either.

When I answered there was only dead air, so I hung up.

A very thick accent woman calling with Manufacturers News, I barely understood that.  Calling to verify info, I hung up the call at that point.

This number pops up on many complaint board forums as a telemarketer.
I am the secretary for a company and this number called us. The caller i.d. said  "wireless caller" but it was a woman with an Indian accent. She said she was from the Indiana Directory company and just wanted to verify our information.
I was immediately uncomfortable answering her questions and thought about hanging up. She was verifying our address, email, fax and phone which are all available online, so no harm in answering them (at least I think) but I finally did hang up when she started specifically naming the employees and their job titles.

Woman, with an India accent, asked a series of questions, most of which could be found on our website.

Never answered 'yes'. Just said 'correct' or 'no', to answer.

Only question I didn't like was the gross annual sales, I just said ' confidential '.

Gave her a fake owner name.

Also asked about the fax #, told her we canceled it.
Then later, for contact in the future, she asked fax or email. I said we canceled the fax, remember?

Don't even listen to the answers, do yah.

I felt the same way and I wouldn't have answered if I were at home either. I did say that I couldn't help her and hung up because I felt that it was a scam. I was at work at the time and I, too, am the Switchboard Operator.

That's what my Boss said to me to warn me and so I am very paranoid about those calls.

This caller has been calling me for years.  They are non stop and have no control of the English language.

I am lucky enough to have a call blocker.  They get logged and hung up on upon receipt of call.
They are non stop and nothing you can do beyond getting some tech to filter your calls will stop them.

BTW: Never Say Yes on the telephone.   ' )

Calls repeatedly, does not leave message on machine. Legit companies don't do business like this. If they do, you don't want to do business with them.

Wants to know if "Business Name' is here.
I state 'No'
She repeats her question
I repeat 'No'
She asks again, and I say 'That's enough' and hang up.

We do have a call that comes through very often telling us that we have to pay several $100 dollars for an add. I did not give her (foreign sounding voice) to state what she needs.

caller id shows 'Chicago IL'.  However this person with foreign accent says he's from 'Manufacturers News' and wants to update our company info.  I confirmed all the info that's known publicly.  Some I just told him I didn't want to answer.

Same -- woman with accent said that she was with the Manufacture's Guide and wanted to update her records.  I told her that nothing had changed and hung up.  She called back on another business number and I put the call on hold and transferred it to the guys in the shop -- telling them it was a telemarketer....doubt she calls back after talking to that rude/crude bunch of men!

Looks like a marketing call coming from a VOIP phone.

Very pushy woman with Indian accent. When I told her I would not answer her questions until she told me about her company, she went right back to her list of questions. I did get out of her that she was collecting data for "Hardcore Business Directory of Alabama." I told her I'd check out the company and she could call me back in an hour. There's no such company.
