- Brad| 1 replycalled my cell phone 10/26 at 5:01PM. Googled the number and found their webpage. The call was from NIS or National Immunization Surveys. Must have been a phone call for an immunization survey.

- ANON| 6 repliesCalled my cell nbr about 2 hours ago. Did not answer and added to my block/spam list.
Did a www search on the number and found the following information:Quote:National Immunization Surveys (NIS)
https://www.cdc.gov/vaccines/imz-managers/nis/participant/index.html
From the web page:Quote:Welcome NIS-Child, NIS-Teen, and NIS-CIM Participants
Have you been called by 312-871-4241 or 312-871-4242 (Caller ID CDC NATL IMMUN) or received a letter from Dr. Nancy Messonnier, Director of the National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases (NCIRD), about the National Immunization Surveys (NIS), including the NIS-Child, NIS-Teen, or NIS-Child Influenza Module (NIS-CIM)?
Please be assured that you were contacted about a survey sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The NIS-Child, NIS-Teen, and NIS-CIM are conducted for CDC by NORC at the University of Chicago.- Caller: National Immunization Surveys (NIS)

- Todd| 2 repliesThey called. I blocked the number. Then they called back and left a 32 second message anyway even though the phone never rang. I found that too be odd.
- Caller: Scammer
- Jane Doe replies to ToddOdd yes, telecom numbers may appear to be from another state, however they may be local like use of a "walkie talkie" system.
- WeKillSpam replies to ANONIf you have an Android cell phone, then that is probably why blocked calls can get to your voicemail. Android doesn't allow third-party apps (we use Truecaller) to do "pick up/hang up" on calls that you've marked for blocking.
I think Android is a Google thing, but I don't know if Google has their own app that does pick up/hang up so blocked calls get cut off short. - WeKillSpam replies to ToddAndroid phone? See other reply below.
- WeKillSpamThey are legit. Getting these calls might be annoying for those who don't have children in the household, but they're trying to do a broad-based survey and identify areas of the country where children aren't being immunized against infectious diseases. They are legally exempt from the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (Do Not Call Registry). Under the TCPA, calls may be made to residences only between 8:00 AM and 9:00 PM local time.
"How did your number get chosen?
"Because most of our surveys need to be representative of a broad segment of the public to be valid, NORC uses a scientific selection process to identify participants. NORC [“the non-partisan and objective research organization NORC at the University of Chicago,” or N.O.R.C] typically selects participants from phone numbers or address lists of the full population to ensure a random and appropriate representation of geographies and demographics for use in obtaining study results.
"NORC does not use telemarketing lists or phone books in selecting survey samples. Instead, a computer scientifically selects telephone numbers or addresses for surveys from banks of telephone numbers or USPS address lists for each geographic area."- Caller: CDC National Immunization Survey

- Definitespam| 1 replyWhat 'survey' calls at 3 pm Central on a Sunday before Christmas? I'm sorry I'm calling BS on that claim.
- BigA replies to DefinitespamI fail to see your point. Calls are allowed per Federal Law from 8 am to 9 pm any day of the week. Surveys are not regulated at all.

- Annoyed| 2 repliesI dont care if this this is the NIS or not. A. I dont trust the government with my information, how many times have they been hacked? B. I am not going to give information about myself or especially a minor over the phone. C. I have no way of verifying who it actually is. maybe if the government wants to collect information they should start by giving telecom providers 6 months to fix the systems that allow spoofing. What kind of phone system allows a calls like 000-000-0000 and a call from one number that looks like a local number? Our phone systems are setup for marketing plain and simple. It's a bunch of BS in a gold foil wrapper.
