314-449-9020

How can I retaliate to this caller?  It is a Verizon number which, along with several other numbers having a (314) 449-xxxx tag bombards my home phone, but when I call back, it is listed as "changed or no longer in service".  The BBB said it is a debt collector scam from someone who has stolen old information and hopes to intimidate people into making immediate payments over the phone with the threat of "legal action and credit reporting" if one doesn't submit during the course of the call.

I wish they'd give me a physical address where I could bring a "check".

Don't answer and leave it alone is best retaliation and don't allow them access to your voice mail. Certainly do not call them back. If you actually talk to somebody, demand information in the mail and of the caller. It's a typical extortion scam and an example of somebody grave digging. If you've received nothing in the mail concerning an unpaid debt, you're probably OK. If this were a real call, why use a nonworking number? Not falling for it is also retaliation.

Received a call from this number today, asking for a family member not living near me.  She stated that she had a business matter to discuss with that family matter, and would not reveal it to me.  Sounds like debt collection to me.

has called my phone repeatedly and does not leave nay voicemail.
