A man identifying himself as Mr. Vincent with the Tulsa county warrant division called me at work in reference to a bad check my daughter wrote a few years back, saying that servers had tried serving her with a summons, but could not catch up with her (like she's a fugitive).  He said the next step was a warrant, but that if she called  314-480-5896 to speak with Mr. Cobb, he would work something out with her to stop the warrant.  Really?  I was born at night, but it wasn't last night.

The same [***] has happened to me the past month. I was scared into giving them money and I have been recieving calls every week after from a different place saying I owe money for loans I took out two years ago and would be charged with check fraud if I didn't call them to settle. Then after the third call was from the a place trying to collect the same debt I already set up a payment plan for I realized it had to be a scam. Then I did some research and found the same stories being fed to others. The same MARSHALL THOMAS has calledme tthreatening me to come back to my house and serve me papers when no one ever came on the first place. He called from a restricted number told me to call the collection agency and resolve the papers didn't leave a number. Didn't leave his number either. He called at 3:15 PM said I had til 4pm to fax the papers to him to keep it out of court or he would be at my house at 5pm. No one came. Dont be foolish like me. Luckily they didn't get much out of me but during these hard times money is lying around to shell out scam artists like these people.

Also when I called the place to get a verification of debt letter sent to me in the mail they said they don't do that and got mad and said they would have someone out to serve me summons papers tomorrow.  Didn't happen.

Got a call from a Marshall Thomas, came through as unknown number. Said he was with the Wayne County Prosecutor cival claims, that I need to call this number 716-200-0979 and take care of this or get a release by 430pm today or they would come to place of employement and or my home to serve me, and he highly advises i call and work this out considering the claim thats being made against me???? I did and am scared at first, then thinking I do not have anything I did wrong, some medical bills and a pay day loan from 2 or 3 years ago, Im assumeing thats what this is ??? IDK ?????

Total scam.  This guy Marshall Thomas, or Joe Thomas or whatever he's calling himself now goes around trying to scare money out of people. He's a debt collector.  Debt is a civil matter.  Being in ordinary civil debt is not a crime and you cannot be arrested for it.  We do not have debtors prisons in the US.  Report this person to your local public prosecutors.  He is impersonating an officer of the law.  Which is illegal.  Obviously.  Ignore the calls and block them.

  Just because a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt does not mean you owe it
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:

1.    Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2.     Demand a debt validation letter by US mail.  E-mail no good.
3.    Do not pay  the collection agent or anyone else a  DIME  until the debt is validated.

Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply block their calls and ignore them.

If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money,  tell them that you know this is  a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion.  You might have to yell at the scammer and talk over him or her.  Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the  file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved.   Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.

I had the same I called [***] clerk she said dont pay statue of limitations is 2 years in most states. She also said that he could call her. they wont. If you make a payment it reactivates the check but the county clerk wont process it. I called consumer credit .gov to file a complaint

Got several calls from a Marshall Thomas as well.
