Unknown. Did not answer. They hung up.
I never answer phone unless I know the person answering or the person on the answering machine is valid.
So wasting their time.

Unknown name caller, phone rang 3 times then hung up.

We received a call from this number a little before 4:30 this afternoon. Caller ID: Unavailable. Since it was supposedly from a number in our area code, I answered, The caller said he was calling on behalf of the American Veterans Support Foundation. He wanted  a pledge (dollar amount) right there and then. I made sure not to say "yes" or "un-huh" or any kind of positive reply to his questions. I did say I was not familiar with the organization. His reply: it is a project of the National Vietnam Veterans Foundation. (An organization with which am also not familiar.) I replied that I needed to learn more about the organization before donating any money. Before he could say anything else, I said "Thanks for calling. Bye" Then I hung up.

What I found out about the American Veterans Support Foundation: It is a project of the National Vietnam Veterans Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and qualifies for donors to claim their donations as Federal income tax deductions. More importantly, I found this:

Needless to say I will be blocking the phone number and will not consider donating to the organization.

Thanks very much for the due diligence you've done and provided on this post. Receive numerous calls from this number, usually on Sunday mornings, each time shown as "unknown name", and rings only 3 or 4 times. Extremely helpful information.

Charities, along with some Survey's and Political calls, are exempt from the DNC, however, they can still get into trouble for not placing you on a internal DNC when asked, you can also check your states laws in regards.  Some states have different laws in regards to the calls,  which can differ from the federal but as far as I know, Oregon is the only one that does not allow Charity calls.

Do consider maybe getting a call blocking device or phone.. You can google them and many are around $40.00 or less. If its a cell phone, some already have call blocking, if not, there are free apps on the web that will work for some. You can google this. If you have a smart phone, there is a free app called call control. Iphones appear to have apps also. Another one is called Mr. Number.

12:50p.m. Sunday 12-27-15. # came up as St Louis MO. on ID. Answered and heard silence, then was disconnected.

Just received call from this number on my cell. As I didn't recognize I let it go to voice mail. They did not leave message, so googled and found this info. Glad I didn't answer!
