Scammer claiming to be from Microsoft.  http://emanuelpccare.com/ was the website they gave.

They cold called and tried to to the error report scam.

Recieved call from Emanuel PC care . Proported to be from Microsort technical support . Stupidly allowed them to scan my computer and ofcourse found loads of infections. I grew suspicious whe he moved onto purchasing new maintenance products. Not happy when I said we were about to replace our computer so not worth it!! worried about what info might be gained from my computer by such an intrusion.

One morning, my wife visited a web site looking for travel information for Italy.  When she tried to click a link for bus schedules, a message dialog displayed requesting a download.  She accepted the download and nothing seemed to happen.  As she went to another page, suddenly a dialog displayed claiming that an internet virus had been found.  Several small windows displayed warning of virus and a problem.

She phoned me, I told her to not click anything and to leave it and I would deal with it in a bit.  She did unplug the router to the DSL.

I got home at lunch time and was careful to not click on any of the windows displayed.  The quality of the graphics and the presentation looked unprofessional and unlike the anti-virus and anti-intrusion that I had installed.  The PC was unable to do anything so I was unable to start my standard malware software.

I rebooted the PC bringing it up in Safe Mode with Networking.  I was then able to run my standard malware software, MalwareBytes

which found the software that was causing the problem.  I also checked the settings in the msconfig application (link to Microsoft documentation below or do a google on it)

which is a standard Microsoft Utility and found that a new application had been added to my startup.  I disabled that so that it would not automatically run when the PC rebooted.

I then rebooted the PC, ran MalwareBytes again after updating the database, then followed up with Microsoft Security essentials

and then Spybot Search and Destroy after updating its database

After taking the above steps, I believe that my PC was cleaned up.

That evening around 5pm, my wife received a telephone call from Emanual PC Care.  They left this telephone number and when I got home, I returned the call.  Their English was pretty bad and the timing of their call with the installation of the malware seems to me that the malware is from them.

There is no way that I would let these people do anything to my PC.  The above applications are standard applications and available on the web so I suggest you take a look at them.

Spybot indicates that the particular malware my wife downloaded was from a company in Germany.

Received this call and don't want any more from them.

They are busy little thievs today.   Just went through the same BS.  I had worked with Microsoft many times before and knew right away that the Login website they gave (support.me) was a scam.  Look for the MS logos but do not take that as proof.  Many thieves are smart enough to make it look like real MS instead of real BS.  When they pressed me with the "Microsoft support team it was the last straw.  Microsoft does not do those type of calls.  I suggested very politely that they go to a MUCH warmer place.  I only wish I could slam down the new phones to have  blown an eardrum.

They called me 2 times. First time that got angry because I didn't go too far. 2nd time I spoke with 3 different persons. It sounded too fishy. I did not let them connect to my computer. I'm happy I did the right choice after reading all this.

Someone claiming to be from support.me (Microsoft partner?) support team based in U.S. (really?) called me a few days ago. I don't know for sure but I think MS does not do these type of calls, right? Anyway, this  guy told me that my laptop was infected with fake software 'internet defender' or smth like that. He also mentioned that this fake software can steal my login/pass and it looks pretty much the same as windows defender (you know the genuine MS security app), probably something like this

I knew it was a scam right away, because (1) I don't have a laptop (2) there were no signs of internet defender virus on my PC. By the way, I called MS and they confirmed that they indeed do not d these kind of calls. Haha... good luck next time suckers! I'm not buying this sh**

Mine call was from Daniel.  He told my wife we were infected and the center of an issue.  She shut him down and asked for credentials.  They gave credentials, but they were BS.  She called me immediately because she could smell the BS through the phone.  Way to go honey, they lost on this attempt.

Train your family to not listed to these calls.

Received a phone call from these people claiming to be Windows and stating that they have detected threats on my computer.  There was a bad connection so the same person called back twice.  Giving two different names, Kevin Smith and Kevin Owens.  The second number that he called from was listed as Jason Owens 2253820308 and the other phone number was scrambled on caller ID.  
I scanned my computer and it is still running smoothly w/o any threats.

I told him to stop calling me I would be reporting them too the FCC they now call once an hour  just to bother me annoying me or get back for report them to the FCC

I received a call from the # listed. I am on a "No Call List" to avoid these type calls. Any call such as this one that I don't recognize, I NEVER answer for obvious reasons. If they continue I will report these calls to my federal "no call list" website so that they may be fined the $20,000 for their intrusion.

They called me claiming they were from the State Education Department and I qualified to receive a loan free of charge I wouldn't have to pay back. I hung up

I just received a phone call from this number claiming to be from the education department and saying I qualified for a government grant. He asked me a few questions nothing super personal but I ended up hanging up. They are crazy!
