Received message from well-spoken woman calling about a credit I failed to take advantage of and said to reference code 776 when calling back.  Con Ed does NOT call you to give you back money...come on now!

Call exactly as LCG above. Con Ed should put out a notice in it's paperwork disavowing this scam and alerting customers to it.  BTW: how is this scammer able to get our personal phone numbers.  BE ON GUARD!

Odds are they did not address you by name, just a generic greeting (so they can play the same message to everyone they call).  They are just calling everyone in an area served by Con Ed hoping to find the few persons who will answer the call and are gullible enough to fall for their scam.
As to "getting" your personal number, they really did not do that.  Your phone number, like all phone numbers in North America, has a 3-digit area code, followed by a 3-digit prefix (also known as an exchange) and a 4-digit subscriber number.  Let's imagine that your number is 123-456-7890.  The scammers use automatic dialing equipment that can dial many numbers at one time and deliver their message to any phone that answers (rolling over to voicemail counts as answering).  They can program the dialer to call numbers in area code 123 with prefix 456 and it will start calling with 123-456-0000 and keep going until it has dialed 123-456-9999.  As it proceeds to do this it will dial 123-456-7890 and your phone rings.  They do not know that it is "your" phone and they did not get "your" number from anywhere, they just have to dial the 10-digit sequence that is "your" number and your phone will ring.

Amazing how people don't know that in this day and age when you can find anything you want by simply going on the internet.

I received this same call on March 5, 2024.  A woman said her name was <first name unclear - Maila?> Goodman, calling about my SUPPLY charges. They (doesn't say who THEY are) are updating their records and I'm not getting my credit.  Reference # 7726.  She called from 315-901-5529 but wanted me to call back on 315-302-9337.  I did not call back.

Same as other folks. Woman saying I haven't been receiving my "reimbursement credits" and giving me "reference number" 7726. As if EVERYONE would have the same reference number! The silliest thing is, Con Edison has all my account info. If I'm owed anything, all they'd have to do is apply it to my account. Done.

Same as all the others. Very well spoken lady named Mayla Goodman. Believe it to be a scam and won't call back. I do not receive Con Ed bills in my building, so how can I have a credit?

I received a call from a Marina Goodman from this number who stated she was a representative of Con Edison and that according to her record ,I missed getting the credits on my Con Edison account. She said it was under reference number 7726. This was left on my answering machine when I called back, no response
