Likely is. I inquired about their services online years ago and later found publishing through Amazon to be much cheaper and a far better option for controlling my book in the long run so I never contacted them again after the first contact via online. These people are like a cancer that keeps coming back no matter how many times you try to cut it off. I would highly suggest you pursue another outlet for publishing your book should you want it to be published by someone. If you want to truly self-publish, there are better sites like createspace.com that will provide all the essential tools to publish your book. Just make sure you withhold your full rights for any future publishing and selling. This way you can distribute with other vendors in the future Etc. You may want to also file a fictitious name preemptive a publishing the book if it is certain forms of literature.
If you know how to use Microsoft Word and or photoshop then you pretty much got all the tools you need the publisher book and produce a digital PDF should you want to sell through online vendors Etc. I publish 2 with createspace.com/amazon so far. Whichever way you go good luck but be careful with working with these outfits like xilibris, they could be a dead end.

I went to their website once and filled out the form to receive more info about what they did for book publishing, it's a publishing house that authors can go through to have their books actually turned into book form so that you can sell them, it's a form of self publishing because they don't sell the book for you or push it at any stores. They've been calling me about every 6 months for the last few yrs, I should probably tell them that even when my book is finished I won't be interested in self publishing maybe then they'll stop calling.

Known scammers that target authors.  You can look up online the many lawsuits they have against them. They will publish your book but they will not be honest about the number of copies they sell. A friend of mine had his book published through them. After six months, he received a check for $2.35.They claimed they only sold 6 copies but there a dozens of used copies for sale on Ebay alone.

Similar to my experience; when I first made the mistake of contacting them for some information, I was barraged with calls; now, it's just occasionally. When a company tries to hard sell something, as Xlibris does, it is really a red flag, in my opinion, that they are scamming.

You do have to pay them to self publish your book. They will publish virtually anything, again you pay for the publishing ... I had a book published through them, they do a good job. Best to hold out for discounted pricing which they do send out if you subscribe to their emails. They also do the marketing.

I initially reached out to Xibris to discuss them helping me publish my book. They offered me a package deal & are waiting to hear back from me. Now I've heard they're being sued for something. Does anyone know more about them before I make a huge mistake?

Did you get good responses after your book was published by them? Would like to know if you think the company is everything they claim to be. I have to call them tomorrow to give them my answer as to if I want to go the self publishing way & invest in the package deal they offered me. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

That has posted here will see your request for help. This is not Twitter or Instagram or Facebook or texting or whatever. You were given good advice before. You should take advantage of it before you get taken. Or not. You can keep posting requests for help but none will come and at a certain point it will become spamming and then the posts will be deleted.

I just got a call from this number and wanted to make sure it was legit. I did fill out some questionnaires online hoping to be connected to some literary agents, but I was nervous because they didn't seem to follow the normal steps, and I found it suspicious that a "publishing company" called within ten hours. The person's accent was so strong I could not understand what company they are supposedly with so I could research them. I'm glad I read these comments because it sounds to me like this is a scam. You should NEVER a *publishing company* to publish your book. (Self publishing is different.) They are supposed to pay you. Here's an excellent article about how to get published that reiterates that information. https://www.janefriedman.com/start-here-how-to-get-your-book-published/

    Wow
I filled out something on their website a few years ago and completely forgot about them. My direction in life changed I was no longer interested in publishing a book. I got a call from Xlibris and the lady would not take no for an answer.. she was very persistent and rube. I even hung up and she called back and kept saying “follow your dream” lol I don’t know if they are legit but it feels like a scam

Called me today and I picked up. They asked if they were speaking to (insert name) and I said yes. Asked if I was publishing a book and I responded yes. Nice lady on the phone. Then asked if i needed help editing or anything like that and told me she could email me some references. Didn't ask for any credit card information. Call was about 2 minutes long. Seemed okay but I would never give anyone over the phone my credit card information, I would recommend just asking for the names of people you could get in touch with.
