I have been getting calls at work and on my cell phone saying they need to serve me with papers because I have a account that was never paid. I called the company that I was told I owed money to and they said they have no record.  The gentlemen on the phone kept saying I needed to pay $4000.00 or I would be served with court documents.  Every time I asked for information and proof they said only my attorney could request that information. He then emailed me a letter with all my personal information incorrect and what looked like a fake letterhead.  When I researched the company and place of address nothing came up and I told him that but he just kept insisting I pay.

Scam! First of all, real process servers don't call in advance. Second, real debt collectors know emails are not legal method of debt validation. Nor are phone calls, faxes, or texts. Only documentation sent via US mail.
