- i dunno replies to DThe Do Not Call registry is only to prevent for-profit telemarketers. It specifically allows political calls, surveys, charity/non-profit calls, and calls from companies you have done business with in the last 6 months. From other comments this is a charity, so the DNC list rules does not apply to them. Or just maybe, it's a scam pretending to be a charity, but criminals aren't going to follow laws or rules anyway.
Your number being unpublished doesn't matter. Robocallers will try to call every number. Pick an area code, pick a 3-digit prefix, then there are ten thousand numbers 0000 to 9999. A computer can dial all ten thousand of these within a very short time.
And your phone number is NOT really "unpublished" if you gave it to: any smartphone app, your bank, your credit card company, your mortgage company, your supermarket, pharmacy, movie theater, bookstore, department store (to earn points or discounts on their loyalty program). Check the fine print on the so-called "privacy policy" and you will see that most places will share your name/number with various "partners" which can easily include companies that maintain consumer phone lists, and then those companies can sell the list to other companies. - i dunno| 1 replyMissed call, left no message. In this day of mass telemarketing, legitimate callers should know to leave a message.
From other comments I see it's a charity (or maybe scammers pretending to be a charity) and they would want to talk to a person so that they can go through their emotionally-charged, high-manipulation script and try to pressure you into donating right away. This still works on enough people, otherwise they wouldn't still do it. Emotional appeals don't work so well on voicemail, so they don't bother. But charity or not, it's still an unsolicited call and still unwanted. I hope good charities will find better ways to reach people, ways that are not so intrusive.- Call type: Unwanted
- BigA replies to i dunnoFrom reading the other posts this is a PAC and not a charity. PAC's are not regulated as to spending so instead of bribing elected officials they get to keep all the money for themselves.
