Called my cell phone. One ring and hung up. I checked the number here and now have added it to my "SPAM" contact which has a silent ringtone assigned.

I'd recommend adding "One-Ringer" as a choice in the "Call Type" drop-down, since that seems to be a common type of call. It's clear that the one-ringers aren't debt collectors, survey-takers, Rachel, etc. My theory is that they're looking for fax machines, or maybe private voicemail servers or other devices that pick up right away - but who knows.

I get a couple calls a week from scammers - from the comments here, this looks like another one.
Blocking on my phone.

Go to www.endrobocalls.org and sign the petition.  It is by the Consumer Reports Magazine folks, and they are pressuring the Feds and phone companies to stop this nonsense.

800notes is not affiliated with your caller.  I doubt your caller is monitoring this thread.  However, you can prevent his number from calling you.

If your provider offers call blocking, take advantage of it.

If they don't, you have other options.

If you have a cell phone, get a call blocking app.  If it is a landline, invest in a call blocker.  They can be purchased from an online retailer, like Amazon.

declined the call and got a 2-second voicemail message of a high-pitched humming sound. checked here and blocked the number.

Woman called. She sounded hot. I flirted with her a little. She sent me her pic. We talked for about an hr. Im sending her some money to fly here this weekend. This is gonna be great. I never did ask her why she called though. Ill ask her when she gets here Saturday.

Check for her adam's apple as soon as you meet.  If it is the same person who called me, you are in for a BIG surprise.

Received a call from this number at 9:43 am today on my cell. Only rang a couple of times and hung up before I got to my phone. Then, later today, received a call from a number with my area code and first three digits, of my number, so I answered. It was a girl wanting to know who I was, and I asked her who she was. She said she had just received a call from my number and was calling back to see who called her. Not me, I hadn't used my phone all day. So I wonder if the two are connected? Can crooks and scammers somehow hack someone else's phone number to show up on the caller ID?
