Cut off voice mail stating there were serious allegations against my name and I need to call them back immediately.

Recorded call claiming to be the IRS and telling me there were serious problems with my tax return.  Obviously a scam.

Recording saying that they were the IRS and telling me that there were serious allegations against me and that I need to call them back immediately.

I knew it was a scam, but called back to see how it works. They verified my identity, told me I owed $8500 in back taxes, and said I could resolve it in the courthouse or out. I chose "out" of course, and was then told to get in my car and drive to my bank. The scammer hung up on me when he told me to honk my horn and I couldn't produce a horn sound quickly enough. I assume that once I drove to the bank, and got the money, I would have been given instructions on how/where to wire it. Scammers suck!!!!!

Interesting.  I guess they are getting used to being played, or at least that one has had it happen a few times before.
