- Kelly'sFriendAlso received the same call from (323) 238-3879 said she was from the treasury and wanted the name of my attorney? I asked why? She said I was in a lot of legal trouble for not paying taxes. I told her the treasury department would not be calling me and my taxes were paid. She insisted that I ignored their letters and was going to be arrested. I said a few foul words and suggested they go right ahead and arrest me. She hung up, imagine that.
- Caller: US Treasury???

- JC replies to AdamnEveGot the exact same message today from "Sean Adams," thick Indian accent and obviously calling from a call center. Yeah, I'll have my attorney call you right back, pal.
- EBReceived same call today as described by others. Knew it was a scam and tried to keep them on the line as long as I could to waste their time. They know your phone number as well as your address and your spouse's name. Once they figured I was on to them, they proceeded to use profanity toward me. Oh well.
- JohnSame as everyone else.
"This message is intended for [my name]. Yeah [me] this is Matt Peterson with the Department of legal affairs of the US Treasury and I was trying to reach you in regards to a very important issue. This is a verbal notification for [me] in regards to some law enforcement action that has been started on your name. My number is 323-238-3879. I repeat that 323-238-3879. If for any reason you are busy to call back. I will suggest you to have your retained attorney to do it for you. Delay in calling us might end up in a legal mess for you. I hope you will take this right and call me right back. This is Matt Peterson with the Department of legal affairs.Looking forward to speak to you until then. You have a blessed day and goodbye."
Sorry, "Matt", I'm not buying it.- Caller: "US Treasury"
- AnnaGot call from this number 3 times today, especially interesting that they changed who they were a couple of times, first he was calling from the US treasury department and then he was with legal affairs, my husband needed to call him back and then it was his senior officer. The end of the phone call was interesting, I've never heard a "government agent" say "may you be blessed, God bless".

- NG| 1 replyReceived same message on my answering machine today (verbatim!) but identified himself as Vince Howard (I think), It sounded so terrible. I could barely hear the message. I knew it had to be a scam because he pronounced my name correctly! No one has been able to do that before. LOL.
- arizona girlA man who is not he a native English speaker left a message that he was from the US Treasury Dept.
- Caller: US Treasury Dept
- Jennifer| 1 replyReceived a call from a woman saying I owed back taxes and should have received a notice in the mail. She said I should call 323-238-3879 (the same number she was calling from) and told me to speak with Ethan Smith. She gave me CP503 as a reference number. I hung up and looked up the number and saw the above messages and wanted to reiterate the obvious. The funny phone connection and deep accent was a dead giveaway.
- Poppa ChubbyReceived a call from 323-238-3879 from a person with a heavy foreign accent stating he was from the Department of Legal Affairs. He stated there was legal action with me and the Department of the Treasury and that I should call the number immediately to talk to his supervisor. He had my correct name and address. I asked him to send me the written complaint and he said that I should call as it would be better and faster. Obviously it is a scam, probably from some overseas outfit rolling the calls over to a U.S. phone number. Avoid this fool or u be the fool.
- Jeep Girl replies to AdamnEveI received this exact same message from Nelson Carter. Only problem is the IRS doesn't make initial contact via phone it is always though the mail. Besides, how would Nelson Carter and his band of idiots know if I had tax issues before the IRS contacted me? For the record, I have no tax issues, same as 99% of the people who get this call.
- Naval OfficerI got this message, naming my wife of all things, so I called back. The person with an overseas accent stated that there was an arrest warrent issued for me and my wife, and I needed the name of our criminal defense attorney. Thinking it sounded like a scam, I replied that I doubted that I had an arrest warrent issue since I am a law enforcement officer (Which I am not!). He spewed out something like...when the investigation is complete we'll come and enforce the warrents. He then hung up in a hurry.
