I received a call from a Robert Williams saying I got chosen to receive a $5000 grant for doing my taxes on time. He said his id # is gv3599877wa. He said that I would receive $5000 after I donate $100 to either a charity for cancer or aids. Is this a scam??

I've just received a call from Patrick Louis, who claims that he works for  one of the US Government Grant Agencies. His ID No. :GV3599876WA,. This is the phone No. he gave me to verify his ID:323/843-2852. He said  that he was born in the United Kingdom and that he had became an US citizen. His accent clearly indicates that his native language is either Indian, or Pakistani or South African (with heavy Indian accent). He said that he is calling from California.
Mr. Louis was asking me about my personal information which I did not give him; told him instead that I need to verify his identity. He told me ,  he will call me tomorrow (12/28/2011) at 11 AM.

This number has called repeatedly -- I finally answered.  Evidently I have a $5000 government grand -- his id # GV8599879WA.  Strong accent but name was John Matthew.  I played along until he asked for bank info so they could deposit the check.  Gave me address and phone number - called number and "the person you are calling is not available" recording came on with comment to leave a message.   A scam a minute anymore

i reveived the same phone call today about the 5000 dollar grant...got super excited only to realize it was a scam...making a trip to the bank to change all my acount information....

I also, received a call from John Matthew (very thick accent) advising that I have been chosen to receive a $5000.00 grant because I file my taxes, and that I have not filed for bankrupty.  He said that I could use my grant money however, I wanted as long as it was legal.  ( I don't think what they are doing is legal.)  He became agitated when I, started asking him questions and asked him to mail the  grant check to me.  He said he couldn't because there were 3 to 4 thousand grants and he could not mail a check.  I said the government does it all the time, and they have millions.  He was very upset that he did not get my bank account number.  The scarry part was he knew my address and I didn't give it to him.  It is a scam so, beware.

yes it is a scam i recieved the same exact phone call and info. DONT DO ANTYTHING i called the irvine police dpt and reported the number and they have started an investigation that will last 90 days and if they have any leads they will let me know

i also received the same call from these peolpe and they say they were the united nation organization. They said if i donated $100.00 for some sad story they told me about people loosing their homes i will receive a $5000.00. i send them $400.00 dollars yesterday because they said its the only way to get $5000.00 dollars. A lady named Dorothy was assisting me on this and i cant believe i felt for it, i honestly thought i will get this money to buy stuff for my unborn baby but they tricked me. i hope they go to jail for all this. The guy name was also john mattew his mailing address was 349 west glenn ave los angeles california 90001. the scam they pulled on us wasn't cool at all...

I received a call a little while ago from someone  "Mark Wilson" with an extremely heavy accent saying he was calling from the Dept. of Health and Human Services because I won a $5000 grant (which I did not apply for).  While he talkied, trying to gather my personal information I looked up the number and told him that I knew he was a scammer and that I would be contacting the FBI.  He did not call back

Agervating me and saying they are not a scam and tricking me out of my money

I received a call just like this one same phone number same address and when i read this web site i decieded that because i really did look forward to recieving this money i would call them back.. so i did and i explained to him that i looked up the address and was actually gonna do all of it as far as donate the 100 to the uno so we could get the grant but when i couldnt call the number back i looked it up and found this web site so i called him back cursed him out and told him i knew he was a fake cause i found the web site and made him look it up whats b.s i believed and couldve really used that money

I received a phone call from this number for saying that I'm going to get a grant For 5000 dollars. all I needed to do was good 100 dollars donation to a charity of 100 dollars. I refuse to do so and was called the heartless son of a [***] and some other fowl words in Hindu.

I've got the call from 323-000-0000 number (oddly enough) and I went through the whole thing with him convincing him that I'm on board. I just wanted to see how far he will go. He gave me his name - John Margin - of course with a heavy Indian accent. He couldn't pronounce "Recession." I could feel his discomfort when I laughed on that word every time :) So, he gave me his extension number and this phone number 323-843-2852 to call him back. He said they'll mail me all documents within next 3 days and that I will be able to go to western union to pick up my cash. The reason he offered cash was because I said I have no bank accounts nor cards. He also asked me for my SSN (gave him a random set of numbers) that he needed to verify and HE VERIFIED MY SSN! While on the phone he gave me an address 3049 W Gleeck Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90021 and said that's the address of Federal Government Grant Agency... And I mapped it while on the phone... No such address even! I hope they actually mail me something so I can find out who they are :)

CONCLUSION: SCAM! 100% DO NOT GIVE AWAY ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION!!!
