Message said they are calling about your case number. I have none, and they also did not indicate any police department or court.

Computerized voice left this message: "The reason of this call is to inform you that IRS is filing lawsuit against you. To get more information about this case file, please call immediately on our department number 323-861-5663. I repeat. 323-861-5663. Thank you."

2 messages on my answering machine, made to sound like the beginning part was cut off, so only has 323-861-5663 and mentioned a case but no case number.  when I called, the representive said her name was Rose Johnson and IRS id number 2040608 (which did not resemble the id number of irs agents i have dealt with before).  My apologies to Ms Johnson if she is indeed an IRS employee but they dropped the call when I asked for additional information to verify that it is indeed an IRS office that I am talking to.
So this smells like a scam

Ditto.   Robo message with this number saying IRS was after me.  called the number and asked the name and location of the person I was talking to.  Said his name was inspector something or other at constitution ave in Washington, D.C.  In a foreign accent.  I asked him to spell his name and he hung up.

"Hello. We have been trying to reach you" said the obvious female bot voice. The next sentence mentioned the IRS, that's when I hung up. Another transparent IRS scam call.

Here's what the real IRS says:
    Quote:
    The IRS will not:
    • Call you to demand immediate payment. The IRS will not call you if you owe taxes without first sending you a bill in the mail.
    • Demand that you pay taxes and not allow you to question or appeal the amount you owe.
    • Require that you pay your taxes a certain way. For instance, require that you pay with a prepaid debit card.
    • Ask for your credit or debit card numbers over the phone.
    • Threaten to bring in police or other agencies to arrest you for not paying.

This number has been calling me.  I did call back and they said they were the IRS.  I questioned the woman and she put me on hold though I was actually disconnected.  I called back and a man with a thick accent told me to Never call them again.  I could hear it was a call center..
