Marketing and collection companies use robo callers to determine if your phone number is good to call later. If phone picks up they add it to their call later list. Blocking won't help as they call from a different number knowing based on this call to you your number is in service.

I got called by this number and called it back.  It said press one to put on the do not call list, that's all.  Sure it's a scam to check your number.

Automated message claiming to be from Google front page specialist trying to help a "business like yours"....

Got a robocall from this number claiming to be a "local Google representative" who has a special deal on a place on Google's "front page".  Evil.

Caller ID Showed the name as being Assist.  Most of the times when this shows up it is a fake Microsoft Tech Support scam.

Robocall offering google listings. What is very deceitful of them is that if you hang on to hear what they say, the first option is "if you want to renew your google listing (or something similar), Press 1." If you are the business owner, Press 1. I am sure if you press one you'll suddenly receive a bill for a google listing service. Very deceptive and sleazy.

Get calls from "Assist" at this phone number. My strategy is to do a little pickup / hangup immediately. If I let it ring, they'll get my answering machine which will confirm the number is good. I do this with most unknown calls. If the caller is legit, most likely they'll try again right away (though I have met some people who didn't try a second time).

Automated services saying they can get my business on the front page of Google for a flat rate. SPAM.

Got a call and pressed the number 1 option.  Google placement then answered by guy named Chris before being hung up on.  Please someone report and hunt down these low lifes that waste people's time.
