First called as an unknown number, listened and then Called from this number and identified as investigation department of the IRS, tried to sound legit but heavy accent, seemed to know my name. I shouted scammers and hung up as i heard this happens all too often

Anyone claiming to be the IRS by any other means EXCEPT a certified letter with return receipt (which these jerks will say they did but didn't actually) is a LIAR

I didn't even let the conversation go that far. I heard about people getting scammed by these criminals on NPR and knew immediately what they were up to. Still very unnerving though :( unpleasant and crazy that they try this. I feel i was targeted because i have a foreign name

That would be a safe thing to believe-they probably thought you would be an easy target because (in their minds) you wouldn't know what's a scam and what's not. Scammers aren't all that smart, but they CAN be very cunning

I have a foreign first name so I am the target.  She called herself Linda Jordan from the investigation Department of IRS.  She was very persistent and bold.  I believe she is operating from outside of US, probably India, based on her accent.
