Got an annoyance phone call today Saturday 4-5-14 from David Brown at 1-347-832-4519, I think he is the same guy that called us several times last Friday 3-30-14, we kept hanging up on him and he would call right back, until we would not answer our phone. Last Friday he said his name was Charles Hedricks at 1-512-547-1244. Both times he threatened legal acting if we did not call him back at the numbers listed above. We have not called him back and nothing has happened yet. Must be some kind of a SCAM. I am going to report these annoying calls to the Ohio Attorney General and the FBI so they can stop this bad boy(s). It should be easy to catch them being they are so brazen.

Caller was calling for my husband and said he was a representative of the U S Treasury and that he was calling to inform him of a legal action filed against him. US Government Agencies DO NOT call individuals to notify them of any action against them.

Some foreign dude with a very, very heavy accent just called and said that my dad has done some crime, and that he must pay up... He wouldn't tell me what the "crime" was, and when I typed in the number he gave me on google, people reported it as fraud/scam.

Same here. Allegedly named Mike Franklin. When the threats began I got tricky with him. I said that if he really was an Agent of the U.S. Treasury then I would cooperate only with a visit from an agent with proper ID accompanied by a uniformed local or state police officer. This flustered him a lot. He got mean. I told him that impersonating federal agents had serious charges and that I was going to immediately contact the Treasury with all the details of the call, including his name, number and location once I traced the call. Which I then did. I included a basic transcript of the conversation too. He freaked out and began yapping to someone in the background in a foreign language. I hung up......... I win. As the number traces to NYC, I recommend you also contact NYPD, which a cop family member of mine helped me do. Someone posted a great bunch of links on the first comment page with resources to educate and protect yourself from this predatory scum.

Middle Eastern man told me to call this number and speak to Anthony Davis employee id 10036 concerning legal action against me from the US Treasury department. I called and Anthony Davis was another middle eastern man very difficult to understand. He said that I should have received an affidavit from the IRS for legal action against me. I told him to explain it to me and I put him on speaker phone. He asked me to take him off speaker phone and I said no. Then he hung up!

This is some coward hiding behind a magicJack device plugged in at some God-forsaken corner of the world where there is Internet service.  He's no better than a common criminal using a magicJack device and your fear the same way a common thief uses a toy pistol hidden in the pocket of his overcoat to make a bulge that looks like a real gun.

    From phonevalidator.com :

    Phone Number:    347-832-4519
Date of this Report:    April 28, 2014
    Phone Line Type:    LANDLINE
Phone Company:    YMAX CORP -- POSSIBLE MAGICJACK VOIP

Phonevalidator.com does not keep track of numbers ported into and out of the various blocks administered by each phone company.  The most accurate information is only available to the phone companies, and you aren't going to be able to access this information.  For example, it is possible for someone to port their home phone number to a magicJack number without phonevalidator.com knowing about that.

However, there is reason to believe that this is a number originally assigned to a magicJack device:

    (1) YMAX Corp. is a wholly owned subsidiary of magicJack, and assigns numbers to their devices.  magicJack makes almost all of their money selling these devices and the phone service that goes with these devices.

    (2) Although it is theoretically possible to assign a number out of a YMAX Corp. block of numbers, it seems very unlikely that anyone ever does this, because the cost of using a magicJack is so low that it would be uneconomical to do so.

    (3) In theory, at least, in some states it may be possible to get a YMAX Corp. number without using a magicJack device, it seems very unlikely that anyone would actually do so, because they may use a proprietary protocol for their service, and interconnections to the nationwide telephone system may not be perfectly reliable or even available in some cases.

On the other hand, a magicJack device is very convenient for scammers, especially those from overseas:

    (1) They can access the United States and Canada without paying overseas calling fees from anywhere there is Internet service.  This means that the incremental cost per call, incoming or outgoing, is zero or close to zero.

    (2) They are assigned a U.S. or Canadian number from YMAX Corp., so the person being called cannot know where the scammer is actually calling from.

    (3) MagicJack devices can easily be obtained overseas and appear to come with a "free registration" (i.e., a free number) that you can use for a period of time after the device is purchased, usually at a very low cost to the scammer.

    (4) The audio quality is very good, and can be used to give the impression of a busy call center by playing recordings of people taking or making calls in the background, even if the scammer has only one device.

In addition to the regular reporting channels, e.g., the Department of the Treasury, the FTC, and your local state attorney general's office, you might also report the abuse to YMAX Corp.  I have seen reports that they are pretty good at responding to complaints and may be able to permanently shut off a magicJack device, if necessary, so that it can never be used again.

The YMAX Corp. main web page is at:
    http://www.ymaxcorp.com
and their site giving information on how to lodge a complaint is at:
    http://www.ymaxcorp.com/contact.html

Note that the "contact" website gives a clickable link to a "live chat" where you can make your complaint.

I called [***] back over 100 times thru the day, i hate thieves and man, he hated me after that.  I tormented the living crap out of him.  I am sure he didn't make a dime that day.
I told him if he wants to scam Americans he needs to learn proper english to do so, how can he run a scam when he sounds like he just fell off the boat?
I asked him for his social security number over and over, also about him sending me money, that if he didnt pay i was coming to his door with the police.
I talked about his country and how they crap in a hole...
Then when he would cuss back i would say, "i cant understand you" over and over, i would say are you saying F*** You?  Lets sound that out, i would talk about vowels, forming words, then he would hang up, and i would call him back, he would take his phone off the hook for a bit, by the time he put it back, i was calling again, i had other people calling him to...we would use different voices, all pretending we were scared of the IRS and how can we pay our bill, that they had called us, i kept giving him fake credit card numbers and info, i kept saying i was scared and that i was forgetting my credit card numbers, he would try and help me to remember, and just when he thought he had a real fish, BAM!  We would start laughing at him. Howling!

It was hilarious!  I had a blast and me and my friends were laughing so hard, we were crying!
    Great times!

I keep getting very aggressive phone calls, same ploys as above on answering machine. Going to be arrested, subpoena out, etc... that they hope we will make the right choice and call back. We have never taken out any loans, aside from our actual bank. How do we get this to stop?

Just retrieving my messages and what do I hear this Middle-eastern guy telling me there is a legal or enforcement action against me and proceeds to say who I have the legal action with. Can not understand the name of the person that has the legal action against me. (of course)  When he called his accent was different both times.  I knew it was a scam from the beginning A 469 area code which is Texas and then a cell number New York. Scam, Scam. Not everyone knows and sends money. He said his name is Alex but can't understand his last name.  When I called the 347 number it does say a law fimr so I can see how people can get caught up in this scam.  I tried calling to report this but no luck.  I will read the above post and se where I also can report this.
