352-392-8081 called CELL PHONE (illegal to call cell phones) at 8:40 pm (late) on Aug 10, 2017.  No message (criminals don't leave messages) and no CALLER ID (criminals block caller ID)

Called my cell and asked for my husband by name. They usually want you to support their students. May or not be illegal, but in pass I was being charged without permission. My husband paid his own education and we dont intend to pay anyone else's. My husband worked since 11 yr old and suffered to get through his own education. They are blocked and can go to hell. The school doesn't have the right to get students to call anyone on their behalf. With fraud today, this is crazy.

This is a ligutimate fundraising call from the University of Frorida.  UF pays work study students to call alumni and request donations to the University.  This is perfectly legal and common practice of Universities and Colleges nationwide.  Donations fund research, scholarships, student services, and more.  Non-profit organizations - like MOST universities - can contact people via cell phone if they have had contact with the individual before.  You likely gave them your cell phone number as a contact number sometime in the past.  Someone mentioned fraud potential - IF you chose to donate, the strident caller transfers you to a supervisor who takes all of the financial details.  I have donated in this manner for the past 25 years. I have never had an incident or problems. This is perfectly legitimate.

I got a call from this number during the World Series.  Poor timing on their part but I would not have answered it anyway - I don't answer calls from numbers I don't recognize.  If they won't leave a message, you can be sure they won't be getting a call back.  If you don't want to donate money,  just ignore calla from area code 352.

I have no problem with colleges and universities raising money, but these guys tend to call at odd times.  I just got a call on Sunday night.  I give money to UF, but NEVER to anyone by phone unless I call them first.  They called my cell.  I NEVER gave anyone my cell for any purpose like this.  I am now much less likely to support the school based on tactics like this.   Don't be so sure that these are always legitimate calls.
