An automated message was left on machine stating the IRS is filing a lawsuit against "you" and asked us to call immediately at 360-209-5599.  This is a scam.  First of all, the IRS would just say "you" it would have our name,  Secondly, I have never known the IRS to call people, they would send a letter, probably by certified mail.

It may take a while.  They try to brow beat elderly people into paying them extortion money and then once that happens they keep at it until the victim is broke.  Get a call blocker or call blocking phone for her so tht they can't get through.

    IRS Scam:

The IRS does not need to sue anyone.  They send you first class letters delivered by the Post Office.  Several of them.  Ignore those, and they then send certified letters that you need to sign for.  Again delivered by the Post Office.  Ignore those and they simply freeze your bank accounts and anything else you own.  If they can do that, then why would they bother with a court case that might take them years before they get in front of a judge?  They also do not bother arresting people for a few thousand dollars for the same reasons I have already given.

Called ID listed the number as (360) 209-5599 Washington. The message said that it was "Headquarters" and that several charges are pending against me.  The caller said that within 24 hours I could be arrested by local police.  It urged me to call them back to discuss how this could be resolved.  I see from google searches that this is a scam and that this number is well known.
