I just got a call from this number at 10:10 AM (California Time) on Friday August 9th...

I saw it for what it was - an unwanted call. I'm glad I have Caller ID on my landline...

These xxx-holes are likely using robo-calling to get around the DNC List...

One has to always assume as well, that these kinds of calls are a scam or a rip-off - and treat them accordingly...

This number called my San Jose line at around 19:40 GMT. I travel between the USA (to San Jose) and Europe, but my primary residence is in London, UK.

Left a voicemail which lasted 2.4 seconds and was completely silent, not even any background noise. I ran it through a video sampling system, and it is completely silent, as if there should have been a file playing, but it wasn't found or couldn't be played for some other reason, such as a codec missing or something similar.

When it dialled me, it was most definitely a auto-dialling machine, either a PC configured to run the software on the cloud, or one of those old automatic dialling machines. My guess would be that it is computer controlled, as the silence of the voicemails would not be as quiet, as the older automatic machine diallers, have a little hiss noise throughout, as the technology used to run the machine produced some interference on the same frequencies as that used on the telephone lines. Shielding the internal cabling and other components only removes some of the hissing noise which occurs on those frequencies.

Technically it is highly illegal for these machines to even be operated in America and across the world. If the culprits are found, then I believe the minimum penalty is something along the lines of 15 years.

Answered the phone, they hung up. Caller ID said Biz Tax News.

No reply, no name at all on Caller ID display.
