Thanks everyone for the info regarding this scam. I received the same voicemail from.a gentleman with a thick accent. I will be filing a formal complaint! Dumb crooks. Guess they arent aware that we have advanced quite a bit in technology and have search engines at our finger tips.

keep getting calls w/ threating messages left about time sensitive material and local sheriff office.  But they do not leave a valid call back number - company name - have thick accents or reference number.  I believe this is a scam - they need investigated and reported.  If they are a debit collector then they need to leave company info = reference number and valid call back number.

Got a call today, same thing guy I could not understand except "sheriff office" and. "Arrest warrant" I called back and he was rude and hung up. I called him back because he had the name of a company I had done business with (but was paid in full) so I was afraid something had not posted correctly. When I called back he said he filed with sheriff and to never call him back. I checked with co. In question and they confirmed I was paid in full a year ago. This is a scam but scary that they knew who I had accounts with. I blocked number from my phone so hopefully that will stop them.

Hey. The same thing happened to me about a year ago and again this past Thursday. I live in Colorado and called the police station. They have a department dedicated to this kind of fraud.
It's worth it to give your local police station a call and report it. The more people that call and report it will increase the likihod of the scammers being caught
    Good Luck

The caller states they are with the IRS and that I'm being sued for back taxes. This is a scam since I know that the IRS would send out an official notice.

These criminals are calling from overseas boiler rooms, using VOIP to alter their locations and identities in apathetic and corrupt countries and out of the reach of US law enforcement. Here is the latest on this scam from the FTC:

Tax identity theft is the theme of the week, but it’s not the only tax scam we’re talking about. Complaints to the FTC about IRS imposter scams have shot up over the last year — by almost 50,000 complaints.

Here’s what happens: You get a call from a scammer pretending to be with the IRS, saying you’ll be arrested if you don’t pay taxes you owe right now. You’re told to wire it or put it on a prepaid debit card. They might threaten to deport you or say you’ll lose your driver’s license. Some even know your Social Security number, and they fake caller ID so you think it really is the IRS calling.

But it’s all a lie. If you send the money, it’s gone.

When you have a tax problem, the IRS will first contact you by mail. The IRS won’t ask you to wire money, pay with a prepaid debit card, or share your credit card information over the phone.

If you get a call like this, file a complaint with the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration at tigta.gov. You also can file a complaint with the FTC at ftc.gov/complaint. If you’re concerned there’s a real problem, call the IRS directly at 800-829-1040.

360-362-4719 told me that IRS is going to arrest me, take my lisence, freeze my bank accounts and that I owe $4,986. I told them this is the first I heard about it and the guy said they sent me a notice and it was never signed. Asked him the address they have on file, wasn't mine and the last digits of my social security number then and he told me wrong number so I told him that this call isn't me and its [***] and he laughed...FRAUD!!!!

Recorded message, a female voice:    We have been trying to contact you, this is your final message from the IRS. The IRS is making a lawsuit against you. Please Contact this number 360-362-4719.

My husband called back, this guy with an Indian accent, "Mark Williams" answered he said, we owed $4000+ and would accept $500. Rude. Supervisor, "Joe Scott" - probably the same guy also got on the phone. My husband knew this was a prank call and wanted to see what else he would say...the "high commission"  would take our house. "Oh, you mean High commissioner?" said my husband. "Yes, high commissioner" said the guy. My husband said, and our dog? The guy said, oh yes they would take our DOG.  Very funny. When my husband said he would call our local IRS office, he hung up.

We should know better about scam calls...they would take our Dog?
