- DoNotCall| 6 repliesA man called us several times using the phone number 401-365-1126 and was very RUDE! He claimed himself from VMS Alarms. Then, I called VMS Alarms (1-866-664-8766) and was told that that phone number wasn't from VMS Alarms. Just be aware.
- vms tech replies to DoNotCallI am sorry to hear that one of our reps was rude to you on the phone. And just to inform you that number you called back was wrong it is 1-866-493-1253 not what you dialed. This is not a scam we are a large company trying to help out in you communities.
- do not call me either| 2 repliesReceived a call from unknown caller stating to have filled out some survey and we had one a free GE alarm system. Then we received a call from 401-365-1126 Providence calling back to discuss when a tech could come to inspect the home. This seems like a fraud to me. At the very least they should be fined by FTC for calling people on the do not call list.
They also according to other searches have used 401-427-0929. - DO NOT CALL ME! replies to do not call me eitherYour company is not tryin to help out our communities, you company is tryin to make a buck while you have some outsourced company in India call us and harass us. This company is a horrible. Their people are untrained, rude and violating the do not call list!! This should be stopped, the goverment will be shutting them down soon. Check them out on line, all they have is complaints

- Capone| 1 reply401 365 1126 and 401 434 4585 called several times a day. Eventually I answered and this is what happend...A stranger called my house asking for my wife by her first name behaving as a friend. I asked this person to identify themselves and they became rude and wouldnt give me any info. They just kept saying for me to hand the phone to my wife. I then offered my Attorney's info instead and he hung up. I called back the number 401 434 4585. A man answered and said they where VMS alarm company. I told him what happend he was apologetic. They seem to do this to alot of people about a week after a survey by phone about smoke detectors claiming to be a govt agency. I also recieved the survey previous to the harrasing phone call

- Not Stupid| 1 replyGot a call from an Alex representing VMS Alarms of Providence, R.I. He first said that I had won a free home security system and that all I had to do after the free installation was provide the names of 2 or 3 people that might be interested in a home security system. Also it would only cost me a low monitor rate of 37.99 per month. I told him that I needed some time to think about it. He asked if he could call back in about an hour and I agreed. In that time I looked on line for home security systems in Houston. I found 4 reputable ones (all have excellent BBB ratings) very close to where I live and I called 3 of them. All 3 said that they they were willing to waive the installations fees if I purchased today. One of them was actually selling the GE alarm that VMS was pushing. All of them would provide the same things that the representative on the phone told me that I would get but they could do it for a much less monitoring rate per month (anywhere from $5-$15). My advice: I don't like the way that VMS is trying to promote their product. They may be a legitimate company but the way they are trying to sell their product makes it look like a scam operation. Also, if you are interested in obtaining a home security system, buy locally. Don't go outside the state to buy something that you can find right here. It's really is a rare item if you can't it in the fourth largest city in the USA.

- Kira| 1 replyMy name is Kira, I worked for VMS for about three months up until last week. First and foremost, I want to apologize for the way that the majority of the representatives conduct themselves. VMS hires ANYBODY, and most of the people that work there (including myself, while I did) are young kids fresh out of high school or in college. So they're immature and don't know what's appropriate for a cold call and what's inappropriate.
Secondly, our training teaches us to not give out any information to anyone other than the survey participant. I always did, however, just as long as it was to the significant other because if you don't, it pisses people off.
Now, when you tell a representative that you aren't interested in the "promotion" (it's not REALLY a promotion), they're supposed to put a check mark on your survey and throw it away. However, a LOT of new people forget to check it off, and that's why you get called repeatedly. Also, if you just don't ever answer the phone, or if you pick up and hang up, you will keep getting called. Just answer the phone the first time around and say you aren't interested.
Now, here's how the "promotion" works.
They offer you a $1200 GE System, which IS entirely wireless. However, the system does not actually cost $1200. It's the Simon 3 system, which is a $200 system. $1200 is what Monitronics pays VMS per installation (most reps don't know this, so don't drill them for it. I had to do individual research).
The installation and activation fee is also free, there is a lifetime warranty on all parts (not labor), and the system is yours. They will move it ANYWHERE in the United States for FREE, but out script (yes, we read it word for word) fails to mention that that's only during your contract.
For all of this, you pay a $36.99 monthly charge for monitoring. Now, they can't give you the monitoring for free because it's not VMS' service, it's Monitronics'. But the price can be haggled down to $19.99 per month, but it's difficult!
I'm not recommending the company, by any means. BUT I'd rather have them than ADT, with their two and a half minute response time lololol. I'm just trying to get you guys all the facts about VMS and the "promotion",- Caller: VMS Alarms.

- Ray| 4 repliesOk, so I currently work for VMS Alarms. Thank you Kira, I didn't know any of what you just mentioned. I've only been here for a few weeks. That is quite ridiculous. Anyway, I do have to agree with the fact that even still, I'd rather have VMS than ADT. ADT only covers 2 doors and makes you pay the activation fee. VMS, the system, activation, installation: FREE. Also, we do cover FOUR doors and we'll include windows. Though, windows do cost. Some of the reps are total dicks. In that I won't disagree. BUT! The people we call can also be TERRIBLE! We're just told to come in, read a script, and that's it. My office won't continuously call unless you were terrible to the rep on the phone. Then we have done it as payback in a sense. I've been cursed at and told a number of disturbing things. One woman told me she was going to kill herself and for me to leave her alone and then freaked because I sent the police to her house because I was genuinely concerned for her well being.
Im verring off topic here... I know alot of people think that this is a scam and I don't blame them because we are calling you. But honestly, just take 2 minutes out of your life to hera the rep out and kindly tell them no if you really are not interested. Who's it hurt?
We don't do monetary transactions or take personal info over the phone. And by no means are we "casing" your house.- Caller: I call from VMS

- GF of VMS telamarketerHello,
I want to first and formost say this ANYTHING hat come from VMS alarms is a scam. My ex boyfriend wroked there for a long time. The only reason why he lasted was because he has the gift of gab that most people NEED to have in order to preform and make money at VMS. The stories that he used to tell me were bad, he always reported calling people getting their information and then stealing it (see why were not together). DO NOT GIVE ANY OF YOUR INFORMATION TO THEM!!!! Most of the people they hire are drug addits, rapist, and downright identy theft crimals. Dont trust them. FGF is another sub division and the guy who owns it has a mile long wrap sheet.- Caller: VMS

- Fritz replies to RayRay:
There's NO excuse for repeated calls to individuals registered on the "do not call list." That is a violation of Federal law and a complaint can easily be filed. As an attorney, I would suggest filing such a complaint and taking other action as well. Contact the BBB and the Office of the Attorney General. As one time, in the not so distant past, a splinter of this company was allegedly located in Cranston, RI. They have since moved leaving no forwarding address. Surprised?
FGF is conducting fraudulent business practices. It's a scam that starts with a phone call allegedly conducting survey. It seems innocent enough and there's no sales pitch at that time, but the stage is then set. Within a short time period another call will be placed indicating that "you" have been selected from ALL the survey participants to receive the system. The extent of the system has already been mentioned. As soon as I heard these lines, I instructed the caller to put me on the "do not call" list. And, yet, I received a phone call the very next day. I immediately filed a complaint with the Feds and locally with the BBB.
Businesses making unsolicited phone calls to consumers deserve the worst treatment. I am more than happy to give such treatment to them and you should give them the same. After all, they are trying to steal your money by false pretenses. That's a crime, so give them what they deserve. - huffee82| 1 replythese a@#holes call all the time from differnet numbers hers their numbers 401-490-2724 401-490-2725 401-649-4353 469-941-4146 401-435-0333 401-649-4356 ...they also call from america home se selling security systems same deal you won a free home security ... numbers they call from 972-290-0837 and 972-290-0865.... we told them we were not interested and a very polite no thank you and they wont stop calling they switch between this 2 companies one is in rhode island the other is in texas i am currently writing down each time they call and send it 2 the local police ...we dont answer their calls anymore but they wont stop its a game to them ...hope they get what they deserve rude pricks....

- AggravatedByTelemarketer14069488156 They use this number too. I have received 5 calls on my home line and 2 on my cellphone since June 8th. 3 calls yesterday alone and 2 calls today.
I engaged the caller to get as much information as possible. He said he was from VMS Alarms, "my local AUTHORIZED GE Alarms dealer". He said that, "I and 9 others in my area were selected to receive a FREE alarm system". When I appeared interested he put another 'heavily accented' male, his supervisor he told me, on the line. They kept repeating that I must be a homeowner and the only investment would be the call service that I must agree to. "Only $1.00 a day". When I tried to get a call back number he kept insisting the he would call ME back.
I have already reported this number to the FTC through the No Do Call Registry. Do the same when you receive these calls: https://complaints.donotcall.gov/complaint/complaintcheck.aspx- Caller: VMS Slarms
