This is an alarm company trying to sell you a home alarm system.  Its a telemarketer.  I wonder how they got my cell phone number.  I am on the do not call list.

If you call the number back , it says "if you want to be placed on the do not call list press 1"

I'm on the do not call list.I got a call today from this number.

unknown area code and number. I didn't answer

Called my cell with a recorded sales message, offering me a deal because they will be "in my area"

It is a random call.

Got a call from this number, didn't answer. As my phone was ringing I came to this site to see what was posted about it.

They don't get your cell # from anywhere.  They computer-generate millions of numbers and call them by computer at random.  Which is called robo-dialing and is illegal.  File a complaint with FCC and FTC.

Received recorded call from this number for "alarm systems." This is the second type of phone scam I've received in 2 months and I'm on the do not call list.

401 558-0022 got a call from a so called safe solutions ..smea asmost posts oabove im on no call list ...wish somebody would bust em one for me...

Just got a call from this number.  Recorded message saying they would be in my area installing alarm systems.

Called, it rang twice, they hung up.

They have called my phone two days in a row now at Noon each day. Haven't picked up for them.

Just got another call to my cell from 401-558-0022 I am not even on that East coast. Call is from RI. They do not leave messages.

Cell phone spam from 4015580022, Greenwich, Rhode Island.  They are calling on behalf of 317-222-3395, Defender Security Company, an Indianapolis, Indiana corporation.  They have a number of assumed business names.  Here is their history:

This is a real scam, as in trying to charge your credit card for things you never get.  They employ EngageTel of Wyoming to manage their "do not call list", 307-223-0458.  A lookup of that number gives you "TeleCall", but that is an illegal DBA name being used by EngageTel to confuse them with the defunct Intelecall Communications, Inc., DBA TeleCall Services.  EngageTel supply "compliance services" to the phone spamming industry.  The call that comes to your cell phone is placed by a 3rd company, PaeTec, which is hired to do the dirty deed for the scammers.  Defender Security's web servers and their own telco systems are managed by SolveForce of Yorba Linda, California.  SolveForce is not authorized to transact business by the California Secretary of State; contact person is Ron Legarski.

So, this is pretty typical.  Layers of fraud.  You can pick who to push back on.  If you don't harass them back at least as much as they have you, you are asking for it.  Defender Security is the No. 2 fastest-growing private company in the Indianapolis area.  David Lindsey was the Ernst & Young Entrepeneur of the Year in 2009.  Check out the donations databases.  He gives generously to the Republican party.  41 year old with an $800,000 house, paid for by defrauding you.

Well educated info here.  However keep in mind, if the company is not 'robo dialing' every time you call an 1-800 number the phone number your calling from (caller id) is locked into their system.  So even if it is for your car insurance claim, remodifying your mortgage, or anything else under the sun your phone number has the potential to be locked into a system and then sold for pennies to alternate companys. Does it happen even when they say, "we won't give out your personal information?" Depends on the company and what 'loop holes' they can swing.  

All in all, pester back, sure you can.. Or just never answer.  It costs money to dial numbers, a person will go bankrupt if they don't make 'the sale.'  After time (maybe a month) they give up and move on to the next million numbers.

has anyone tried "setting up" a time to have an alarm installed? also how did you find all of these numbers and manager names and what not. sounds like useful info.

when you answer and the messege begins, press 9, this will take your number out of the call data base, this also works well with all the other calls you get.
