Received a call this AM from "Mike Walton" who indicated that I'd made a purchase from Best Buy in December 2010 and entered in a raffle to win a prize and won.  Can select from 4-5 different selections but have to come down with my wife to pick up the prize to Global Discovery, 800 S.Main St., Mansfield, MA, 02048.  Need to commit to a set time and then they will provide me with a "Claim Code".

I also received call from "Mike" from Toshiba in Japan this morning at 11:00 claiming similar that I had made a purchase in September 2010 at either Walmart or Kmart and wrote my cell phone number on a receipt to enter a prize.  They said their company didn't have enough money to ship prizes so I had to come and pick it up.  I told him that I didn't believe him and his call sounded sketchy and I hung up.  This sounds like a total scam.  His accent is Indian and he's calling from Pawtucket.

Got the same call from the Indian guy named Mike Walton for the meeting in Mansfield, MA. I agreed to a time and I'm all arranged but never intended on showing up. I've been to one of those high pressure time share meetings once when I was in college and knew what it was as soon as he started talking. That's a hour of my life that I'm not willing to sacrifice.

I received two calls from the same number in the last two days.  Same name given "Mike" wants to ask a few questions about a purchase I made last December.  THIS IS A BIG TIME SCAM...

I actually received a call from 508-299-7403 just now June 4th at 7:15 PM with the same pitch the same Mike Walton and after they got off the phone with me they called my wife about to do the same but she had heard mine and simply hung up.

Got a call from "Mike Watson" with a thick accent, who said hold for my supervisor "sarah hitman" who then only asked for details of my personal life, esp. wife's name and info.  When I said "not comfortable" she hung up on me, despite 15 minutes of prior conversation.  Obvious scam

I also received a call from 508 299 7403.   The first guy had a serious accent so I never caught his name.      The second guy was Josh Rodrigues..... I listened for a while.....I never do that then told him I would call him back after I talked with my husband.  Haven't heard from them.. I asked for something in writing

Same message from a guy named Mike (401) 616-4924 June 14th to p/u prizes based on a BB purchase in Dec at a place called Discovery Promotions in Mansfeld.  I told him I would have to call BB, he gave me the number (508) 217-8095.  Was not BB.

Just received a call from (404) 616 4924 with the same script as discussed above. They asked me to come down to Mansfeld at 800  South Main St. I hang up as I believed it is a scam. When I did the search I landed on this page which confirmed that it is a scam.

I recieved this call too about a purchase I made at Best Buy this afternoon. Hoping it was legit I could use a cruise or a new truck

Ugh!  I just got a call from this guy too.  Not only was it a scam, but the guy had a heavy accent and acted like I was rude for asking him to repeat stuff.  He raised his voice at me, and even asked to speak with my parents, which is ridiculous because I am in my twenties.  Unbelievable.

Has anyone actually gone down and claimed a prize?

I just got this call, too. I am SO glad that I came online to check it out. Thank you guys so much for reporting this.

It was already mentioned above, but check this link out for more info on this company: http://govcentral.monster.com/topics/931-global-discovery-vacations/posts

I got a call on my cell phone from 781-472-4999 and also from 760-705-8888. A man with heavy accent explained that I signed up for a contest while shopping last Christmas. I was one of only four people selected to win either a 32" television, $2500, a Cruise, or a Ford Explorer.  He booked an appointment for 12:30 Saturday for 90-minute meeting at 800 South Main St., Mansfield, MA 02048, to which I should bring my husband, our drivers licenses and credit card (for identification purposes). I asked him for his name, his company's name, and contact number. He said his name was Vaad, that he lives in Philadelphia, the company is Global Promotions (earlier in conversation I think he said it was Discovery Promotions) and he gave me the number 508-299-7403. He assured me this was not a time share scam, nor would I be asked to pay any money to receive said prize. I just submitted this information to the BBB in a request that they research this company. That was the first place I checked for information and found nothing.

just receive a call, from the same number.
Call BB, they do not now Discovery Promotion

I find it strange that I won a promotion when I purchased something and now I need my wife with me to claim the prize. What if I was single?

We were thinking about going down there to collect some video and audio to share over the internet, but my wife has class that night.

Got a call today The numbers was 508 229 7403
Address is discovery promotions 800 s main mansfield 02048
I check and little bit more on it and It a travel company
wanted to know what me and wife made in a year?

Company person said they were from discovery promotions
But the page on the web said this Global Discovery Vacations

This is the web page  http://www.yourconfirmationletter.com/foxboro.html

Got a call from 508 229 7835 today on my cell phone. The guy said his name was Steve Johnson and he was from Discovery Promotions. He said I was a lucky prize winner based on a best buy contest entry we had made. One, I don't ever remember registering for any contest with best buy and two I would never give out my cell phone number to anyone that I don't know.

He asked me to show up at 800 S Main St in Mansfield to claim the prize and wanted me to confirm a time. I said I will think about it and ended the call.

Couple of hours later, my wife got the same call on her cell phone with the same story.

This is definitely a scam.

I am sure they are taking advantage of some gullible people out there.

Same details are posted by others here - guy named Mike from Discovery Promotions claiming we gave out our cell phone no. at a Best Buy in Mansfield, and then started his sales pitch. When he could not convince my wife to sign up for a tour, another guy took over; the conversation quickly deteriorated after that - he got really nasty when I asked him how he can call us legally when our numbers are registered in the national do not call registry.
